The big 2019 snow thread!
So who's had some already and who is due some this week?
I'm in Aylesbury in Bucks and they all say it's still very hit and miss at the moment if the cold air will turn the rain into snow. It's expected we will get a couple of cm's at some point though but it won't be a big dump! I have my winter wheels and winter/snow tyres on the car and I'm ready for this! :D |
Been snow at mine for a couple weeks now up around Aberdeen but scoobys got 3 flats so have had to resort to handbrake turns in the 306 :lol1:
Yep, I'd seen you had some up your end of the country. You always get proper snow not compared with our Southern snow dusting that brings everything to a halt! :)
I'm in Midlands between Leicester and Coventry and had the lightest sprinkle Saturday morning and **** all since then.
I was hoping for -15 and 3 foot snow drifts so I could go out and play in my jeep......... |

I was hoping for -15 and 3 foot snow drifts so I could go out and play in my jeep......... We had 2 whole minutes of snow while I was getting my kids shoes on ready for school last week one morning. They got so excited and by the time I opened the front door it had stopped. Not been any since. |
I’m in Aylesbury on Thursday.. new steering wheel 👍 |

Manchester expecting it tomorrow, I think.
Had an inch or so here a few weeks ago but nothing since. I've got my fingers crossed for more, I do love a bit of snow.
Bring it on.
Had a settling with flakes the size of dustbin lids on Fri night in Derbyshire but alas all melted away by Sat morning.
we had a little sprinkle late yesterday evening around 8pm for maybe half hour but nothing else
We had quite a lot yesterday in some areas. Thankfully where I work and live it wasn't bad at all and the wet roads absorbed the snow meaning it didn't settle. Looking out of the window at home today we haven't even had 1cm settle. But not far from here in High Wycombe and Amersham area it was very bad. People having to abandon cars, 30 minute journeys taking 4 hours etc. They've had a good few inches, some up to 5 inches yesterday.

None here in Germany yet.

We don't need winter tyres as it never snows in Britain! https://news.sky.com/story/uk-weathe...-snow-11621046Maybe one day they will realise that the white stuff falling from the sky causing absolute chaos for no reason is called snow. |
this "yellow snow" is all a bit concerning..................

Snowing here in Manchester with a bit of rain.
Nothing in wrexham-yet! |
It's been raining most of the afternoon and finally turned to snow around 6.30 today in Aylesbury. Still not left a lot yet though. 1cm max.
Not an inch of snow here yet in Somerset lol :p, we always seem to miss it, I am originally from London,
and saw a lot more in the South East, I moved here in 2013, last years couple of days of white covering is all I have seen since living here. I like the cold, but enjoy the warmer weather also especially to get out on the motorbike, our biking group are fair weather riders, call it down to being the otherside of 40 lol :) |

Some parts don’t get that much; I had 3mm of tread on my PS3s last year (didn’t realise they were that low on tread) so most of the sipes and cross-grooves had worn away..yet during the beast from the East had little issue despite it being a foot deep in places and that included some damn steep hills...not my preferred route though...my preferred route was blocked by cretins that got stuck so it was either take the hills or walk. Sure it wasn’t great but took it steady, what was more of a issue was being followed too close by feejits on steep downhill sections (that then got stuck on the following uphill section  ). As well as the front bumper acting as a snowplough and wrecking my radiator. Dont worry, I have winter tyres back on again - I sold the last set years ago when I sold my BMW estate. Didn’t bother me on the BM as it a slow barge that was used as a mobile skip, but I bloody hate them on the Golf, even when’s it’s 5 degrees C the PS3s have better damp/wet grip, plus they are wobbly as hell above 50mph. They’ll be going on ebay in March! These are Dunlop Wintersports, probably will try Alpins next winter but couldn’t get them in the right size. I chose these over Nokians as they are supposed to have better wet grip, christ I hate to think what a winter with a lower wet grip score will handle; as much as I like flicking the back end out and 4wheel drifts I wasn’t expecting it on my daily commute when I wouldn’t get even a sniff of a slide with the PS3s in the same wet/damp and cold conditions and I wouldn’t class myself as a fast driver, well not when driving in morning/evening traffic. |
Nothing on the south coast as you would expect but it was -3 this morning and with the rain last night the ice on the car was seriously thick.
Well all the snow last night in Aylesbury amounted to about 1 inch in total which had already partially melted by midnight. All frozen and rather slippery today and Thursday night they are predicting 15 hours of continuous snowfall from 6pm until 9am Friday morning. We'll see what happens this time!
No snow, but traffic was horrendous. :cuckoo: All main roads gridlocked in both directions on my usual commute route, had to hack it round the back roads. Certainly feels like its due to too many people just all jumping in their car at the same time to get to wherever a little earlier (or maybe later if they de-ice). |
No snow yet but temps went down to -3.........its almost time to upgrade my vest to a t-shirt.............still keeping my shorts on though, trouser weather is at least -10 :)
