Annoying rear diff whine
Hi guys, I've got a really annoying whine from my rear diff, mainly off throttle or whilst on very gentle throttle. It's a v6 type r with a six speed and matching rear dif. Everything was okay before a major underbody restoration, I replaced all the bushes with super pro including the rear diff, now my question is would the bushes transfer such an annoying noise throughout the car? I've had all new bearings in the rear diff and supposedly the backlash set up by a specialist. It's driving me mad because everything was fine before, although i did take the rear diff apart to paint and get the bolts zinc plated hence why i had it overhauled thinking I'd done something to cause a problem. Ive spoken to a few people who have had all new super pro bushes too and they haven't noticed any increase in noise at all. Im stuck between going back to standard bushes or just buying a r180 rear diff, unfortunately second hand diffs a pretty expensive. Any help or experience guys would be much appreciated. |
Yes the bushes can make a massive difference. A solid bushed dog bone on the gearbox was truly awful, I can imagine rear diff would be similar.

In fact I think it was a group n style Bush I tried and still transmitted far to much whine through.
