O2 sensor for the rare EL15 Hawkeye Impreza
Hello all,
I'm currently exhausting (ha) all my options here. I have a 06 Hawkeye impreza with the much beloved, but not too well known, 1.5 engine. :Whatever_ In standard fashion, Subaru has elected for a very specific A/F sensor. A Denso sensor but I am unable to find much information as to the exact model. :wonder: :007: Death of the A/F :007: The A/F sensor has failed on me @ about ~65,000miles the stealership wants £420 for a replacement, which is beyond ridiculous. :eek2: I elected to find an alternative but after reading about Subaru's pickiness with these devices I figured I'd aim for a Denso, that which the car already uses. :cuckoo: Jumping the gun :cuckoo: The Denso I bought I fitted myself and shortly after I realised it was a post-cat sensor with a pre-cat connector  I was pretty close to just giving up and dealing with it but the performance was horrid, the fuel consumption a joke, from a 1.5! :notworthy Rebirth! :notworthy So back to drawing board and I found a breakers yard, 1 of many, who had managed to find me a single front A/F sensor. For just £45 :luvlove: The last car specific A/F sensor in all the land! I slapped that onto the manifold, chucked it in the car and like magic, she was healed!... That is, until now. She's Gone Oh I  Now I'm getting P420 codes an P2000 codes and all eyes are back on the Front O2. :Suspiciou  Question time! The code for the proper A/F sensor is 22641AA400. These only seem to be available on the Japanese Amazon as far as I can see, but I don't think the seller ships to the UK. I've found that the A/F sensor from the 2008 model: 22641AA480 is of the same thread size and connector type. Still a Denso, still Subaru. Available for ~£110, in the UK. What's the likelihood that this endeavour will pay off? Should I purchase it or is she literally a lost cause? |
