Can't believe I'm here writing this but I'm thinking (emphasis definitely on thinking) of selling my 2007 WRX saloon but need to gauge what a fair price would be for it if I do decide to bite the bullet and sell.

I bought the car back in 2015 after it had been imported from Ireland. It has 2 previous keepers, the first being the original owner in Ireland and the second being the garage in Portsmouth which imported the car over from Ireland:

Since it is a European import it has no factory fitted Sigma alarm like its UK counterpart, but does have a standard immobilizer, two keys and documentation from the Subaru dealer in Ireland which supplied the car.

The car comes with same Prodrive add-ons as per the GB270 ie 18" Prodrive rims, GB2070 spoiler, but is completely standard in terms of engine performance. It also has a colour coded aero-spoiler and sunroof.

Shortly after purchase I swapped the rear silencer for a Scoobyworld catback exhaust package, consisting of a Racebox backbox and Afterburner centre section:

I also swapped out the seats for Bugeye bucket-style seats as I consider these to be much comfier seats. Scoobyworld mudflaps were also added.

A few months after I took ownership the rear shocks started knocking (common fault) so I had a set of Pedders fitted in Oct 2015. These lowered the stance of the car slightly and certainly increased handling in the corners:

However, I do consider them to be somewhat noisy on really uneven roads - I'm not sure if this is just a "feature" or something to do with the fact I still have a stock rear ARB but the noise has been present ever since they were fitted. To be honest it's never really bothered me because it's only on really uneven surfaces and hasn't impacted on the safety of the suspension, it's just something to be aware of. The Pedders suspension was fitted at Scoobyclinic and whilst the car was with them I had the underneath treated with waxoyl.

The service book is fully stamped, with a mixture of Subaru dealer and independent specialists - there are some receipts and paperwork from work carried out prior to my ownership. Under my ownership the following servicing has been carried out at Scoobyworld ( click for Scoobyworld newage servicing schedule ) :

02.05.18 - Secondary Air Pump faulted (another common issue), blanked off and all fault codes mapped out of ECU. This means that the car now comes with an ECUTEK license.

Now for the bad bit ... unfortunately the car was listed as a Cat C in 2016. This is due to an accident which occurred under my ownership in Feb 2016, which made a bit of a mess of the front end:

I was travelling through a set of cross-roads when an oncoming learning driver, who was waiting in the central reservation, got a bit too impulsive and pulled out directly in front of me. I had no other option but to swerve and avoid him. Fortunately I missed him but ended up hitting a set of railings which were protecting the cross-roads' pedestrian crossing. Damage to the car was purely cosmetic and I was able to drive away from the scene of the accident but my insurance company wrote the car off as they considered it beyond economical repair. I tried to argue the toss with them but they wouldn't budge on their decision. Knowing the car was mechanically sound I purchased the car back from the insurance company and had Scoobyclinic restore it for me.

Scoobyclinic did an amazing job for me and looking at the car you would never know it was a Cat C:

Admittedly I was a little wary over the 2.5 engine when I decide to go for a hawkeye (what with the horror stories of headgasket failure on hawkeyes) so I made a conscious decision to go for it but not to increase the power and keep it running on a stock map. I have gained every faith in it over the years and it has never let me down and has always pulled solidly. Mileage is currently at 72552 but will increase steadily as the car will continue to be my daily runner. It's a great daily drive and turns heads.

There's a genuine reason behind my thinking of selling up and it's nothing to do with the car, so realistically speaking, what should I be asking for if I decide to go ahead and sell ?

i think because of the accident damage your unlikely to get anything over 5k

Yes it looks like a for sale advert, but that's intentional because I won't have to repeat myself if I do decide to sell up. At the moment I am trying to gauge a realistic price, especially with it being a Cat C, and in order to do that surely people making suggestion need as much history of the car as possible ?

Even that's way over priced to be honest. I sold my immaculate low mileage full service history (never crashed) modified hawkeye WRX running 334bhp a couple of years back for £4k.

even if it was an sti i think you would struggle to get £5k-£6k on a cat c with the std 2.5 engine

wrx........cat c........std engine............£4k tops if your lucky but more than likely £3.5k, not trying to be harsh just trying to be realistic. you may get lucky and get alot more and i hope you do but dont hold your breath

Probably has more value in stripping ti for parts if you have the room for storage.

I wouldn't be put off by the 2.5 being none forged as the car is standard, and has decent history.

The other stumbling block might be the european import part. Some insurance companies might be awkward about the lack of a Sigma system. SO someone is potentially going to have to have their own decent alarm system fitted at extra cost.... you might get haggled on that one.

Keeping a close eye on this thread as an enthuasiast and sti owner currently selling his. some nice numbers flying around. Just out of interest, how do we gauge how much more an sti for example would be worth in today's market over a wrx.
