Removing stuck 2pot brake pad retaining pins

Hi guys

I cant seem to remove the 2 pot rear pad retaining pins from the calipers - they are solid|!!
Any hints and tips to removing them?
The calipers are off the car - so it is proving difficult getting leverage to punch them out.

Any tips would be appreciated!

Vice grips and new pins always happens.

Do they have intact philips heads on them? If they do, get an impact driver with appropriate piece and smack them. This rotation should be enough to free them (and because of the way it works, shouldn't try to turn the caliper as much as just a screwdriver would), although before then trying to drive them out I'd spray them with a penetrant and leave for twenty minutes to properly creep in. A thin punch and a hammer can also help to get them out from behind, or a short but heavy duty flat bladed screwdriver to get down behind the head and drive it out enough to get a good pair of molegrips on it properly. Still, trying to rotate slightly as you pull makes your job much easier. And when you put it back, use antiseize on the pins!!

cheers guys - got them out!!
Had to chisel away all the build up of crap on the pins and chisel the pads off the piston face - it was stuck solid!!
Then used a couple of punches to slowly knock the pins through - what a state they were!!

Just ordered a new pin kit for refitting new pads.

Now time to re paint the calipers - thanks for all the help. Ill be giving you guys a shout when I actually need to fit them to my 97 sti which previously had one pots at the rear!!

Thanks again

Buy stainless clevis pins from eBay and save yourself stress in the future.
