OBD2 Readers and Classic

Hi, I'm very new here and to Impreza ownership so hello all!
Just wondering if anyone could recommend a good ODB2 reader for my Classic? I have a bluetooth reader hooked up to Torque on my phone which works well with my Smart Roadster but unsurprisingly doesn't give any signal if plugged into the Scoob.

thanks in advance and happy Christmas to all

cheers

Joe

Who needs a code reader with a classic ?

Subaru in Europe didn't go OBDII (or EOBD) until 2001, newage models, so you can only read them from the test/read connectors under the dash or by using Subaru Select Monitor (SSM) capable diagnostic devices.

Hi,
There's a 16 pin OBD connector under the steering wheel on mine (UK Turbo 2000 model), surely there must be something I can plug into there that will give me some readings? Had the CEL come on again today when driving - stayed on for about 30 seconds this time rather than just going out quickly so it would be good to see what it is related to, the mrs was driving at the time and she said it seemed to coincide with the steering going a 'bit funny' - would an issue with the power steering trigger the CEL?

Cheers

Joe

I could read fault codes from my V5 Type R when I still had the stock ecu so it's possible. This was with a very expensive reader at a friends garage though so I don't know what's needed to get it to work.

Depends what you want. Any cheap £15 code reader can erase codes and show you fault codes etc. Mine was cheap as chips and does everything I need.
