I'm very tempted
Well, I've just sent the below information about my car to Hurst Cars and the following photos to see what deal they can offer me on the JDM STI ts Type RA NURBURGRING they have in ( https://www.hurstcars.co.uk/used-car...01807298932925 ) . Will be interesting to see what they offer me for mine as a PX,
Any thoughts on what you think I could expect for mine as a PX ????? 2011 WRX STI Saloonwith 36k on the clock Engine & Engine Bay Engine Rebuilt / Forged @ 21,000 New 2.5 STI Block Pair EJ25 Light weight Omega Forged Pistons + Rings 14 mm crankcase bolt Modification Matched Arrow Conrods Cosworth Head gaskets & bolts Cosworth Baffled Sump High flow oil pump & gallery mods Safetly Mapped to 350 Bhp / 360flb (Scooby Clinic) Chevron Motorsport aluminium Radiator & Oil Cooler Forged Motorsport Coolant Hose Kit PERRIN Performance Radiator Shroud PERRIN Performance Radiator Tay Kit PERRIN Performance Boost Solenoid Cover PERRIN Performance Pully Cover PERRIN Cold Intake System STI Strut Brace STI Strut Top Covers STI Strut Brace Battery Clap BRAKES Front Alcon pro r 365mm front discs with 6 pot calliper's Rear Alcon pro r 330mm rear discs with 4 pot calliper's SUSPENSION Spec C Suspension / Pro-R Blue Performance Handling -Lowering Springs / White Line Camber Bolts / White Line Bump Steer & Roll Centre Kit / White Line Front Brace Clamps / White Line Rear Arms / White line Rear Steering Arms & fast road geometry set up Exhaust Hayward & Scott 3'' Turbo Back System Wheels & Tyres 19 inch Prodrive GT2 Forged alloys Yokohama Advan Neova AD08R 245/35/19 ICE Pioneer Sat nav upgrade Interior A one off Custom Leather Interior DAMD Flat Bottom Steering Wheel Gauges 52mm Smoked Stepper Motor (Warning) Turbo Boost 52mm Smoked Stepper Motor (Warning) Oil Pressure 52mm Smoked Stepper Motor (Warning) Oil Temp Other Full bottom line kit, (front splitter, side and rear extensions and rear diffuser) Performance Creations Mud flaps Full Pro R Grill Kit Windows De-Chromed Bits and Bobs colour coded STI Fog Light Covers https://www.type-ra.com/subaru-forum...pzo-jpg.69112/ https://www.type-ra.com/subaru-forum...meo-jpg.69113/ https://www.type-ra.com/subaru-forum...gzx-jpg.69116/ https://www.type-ra.com/subaru-forum...6_n-jpg.69117/ https://www.type-ra.com/subaru-forum...s-7-jpg.69120/ https://www.type-ra.com/subaru-forum...s-6-jpg.69119/ |

Hurst will never give you good money for your car sadly. This is a seriously spec'd car with all the right bits and a real find for someone on here. I hope it goes to an enthusiast rather than Hurst Cars to sit in their stock for a year or so like so many others. You'll be gutted to see what price they put it up for sale at I'll bet you! :D
|
What sort of power is yours running?
It seems like a massive waste of money selling considering the £1000's you have spend on the upgrades. They will never offer you good money. MattyB on here might be willing to offer you decent money then break it out for parts or just sell up as privately and then buy the other |

Was expecting more power can the engine handle with the correct supporting mods/tune? |
they might specialise in Subarus mate, but they're still a trader at the end of the day....
I doubt they'll offer you a decent price for yours - particularly with the lovely parts. You'd be better off selling privately then perhaps going to look at the one they're selling. Just my 2p |
Why would you bother trading for a relatively unknown car when yours has a lot of good kit already fitted?
If i was in the market for a car like yours or the one your looking to trade to, id definitely have your one. |
How much you hoping they offer?

So you will get it and not have the "upgrade itch" and not sped £1000's more making that even better? lol

He definitely sells nice cars but his prices are a bit on the high side

Really have no idea at the moment on price, if they do offer me a PX price then it will give me an idea on what I could expect for it from a privet sale, if I went down that road, but the more reply's I read on here and other forums I'm wondering if I would be doing the right thing.......
Yours is lower mileage and a perfect example of a very well and very tastefully modified saloon STI. It's a very difficult one this. I can see the merits either way. |
In this type of scenario, regardless of the car's worth, I would ask myself if the car you're wanting will offer any discernible performance benefits for you in the way that you use your car? Do you regularly push your car to the limit and left wanting more? If so then the upgrade is worth it, otherwise I don't....

Hmm, investing in cars is always such a gamble and the ROI can be over so many years, is it worth it to have a nice car and not enjoy it?
I'm sure there are other cars that would be better as an investment though, maybe? Either way, I wouldn't do it in this case :D |

Thanks for all the reply's...:thumb:, the main reason I'm thinking about changing mine for the RA is it's rarity in the UK, in saying that I'm sure there was only around 400 of my shape bought to the UK so how many remain on the roads today remains to be seen, so I wont be too disappointed if we don't come to a deal. I've had a good long chat with Max from Hurst Cars and he will be getting back to me soon with a PX price for mine. After the comments on here regarding me changing mine, I'm less likely to go ahead now unless Hurst come up with a deal I cant refuse ...;):)
Cheers Hughy |
Go and have a look i bet you find yours in better condition, then offered 10K plus less on yours,
you could have yours tuned to 400hp for very little money if you wanted some more excitement from it or few more handling mods, but yours is lovely and well spec'd but i do see your attraction to the Ra. |
Also depends what auction grade the RA is. Also, special edition imports , even low miles, are not immune from being thrashed. For example, the yellow spec C that I imported 3 years ago at 19500 miles was followed a year later by Paul's similar one. Mine had a wing and headlight replaced, so was R grade, and Paul's was a nice 4b. Guess whose clutch went at under 20000 miles? These jdm cars are also not immune to engine failure.
Go and drive it, that's the only way to tell, but your current spec is so high that you may be surprised . Lastly, there are better ways of investing than not driving a high performance car; as has been said before, who doesn't shag their partner so she can be tight for her next boyfriend? That's what happens when cars are bought and not driven. I've also seen the state of some of Hursts imports before prepping; it was a long wasted journey for me. |

It's always going to be subjective but you've invested time and money into your car and we all know with modding you get a minimal return on the money you sink into building the car the way you want but we do it anyway as its a bug/hobby.
You've got yours to the spec you want so by trading it in what are you gaining other than having a limited production run car which most won't even know about. The thing is its going to come at a premium to make that jump, possibly 10k+ if not more, are you gaining a better car by doing so, probably not other than a limited production run so for me I'd stick with what you've got. Or for 32k I'd be looking at something different and step away from the marque for a while. I did and enjoyed some cars I've always wanted to own. |
Thanks for all the comments / reply's, ...:thumb:, after reading all the above and getting mine out the garage to turn her over (which I do once a month while not driving her) I think I will listen to / take the advise given on here and stick with what I know / own.. The only reason I was thinking of changing is the rarity of the 2013 RA as I like something a little different , but as some have said above that rarity will probable cost me 10k - 15k to PX then more to get the car how I want it.... Hurst Car's are ringing me this afternoon with a PX price for mine. It will be interesting to see what they offer me and after reading the above post's I'm know armed with the right questions to ask regarding there car as this importing cars is all new to me. Once again thanks for the reply's and advise,
Cheers Hughy |
Good luck matey. Let us know what they come back with and I'll give you £500 more! :D
