Help with Clutch kit for Hawkeye WRX

I'm wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction please.
My car is currently on 65k and from what I've been told the clutch is still going from factory. Last owner had the car 10 years and said he's never had it done, nor is there any paperwork to prove its been done.

At the moment it isn't slipping but the bite is very very high and also the clutch pedal is rock hard/really stiff. Driving for an hour feels like you've been working on legs in gym lol.

Car will be going in for a Remap next month with only a Decat and walbro fuel pump and panel filter so hoping to get to around 280-300bhp (I'm still toying with the idea of changing the stock Td04 turbo to something better depending on price) if I could get to 300-320bhp that would be great.

What's the cheapest clutch kit plus flywheel I can get?

Speak to Alyn @ AS Performance and look at their Exedy pink box kit plus AS flywheel. At those power levels a standard OEM clutch will be fine too, so you may not even need to go to the pink box version.

Exedy pink box clutch kit is £265, or £229 for exedy blue box kit which is OEM equivalent but the chap reckons its better to go for pink box incase I may do further mods down the line, clutch will not need replacing.
Also Flywheel is coming in at £220! That's a lot more than I expected :(
Is the flywheel a must if I'm changing the clutch for the first time since the factory clutch?

You must either pay to have the flywheel skimmed so it's flat again without ridges or fit a new one. If you don't then the new clutch will wear out much faster. It's like putting new brake pads on very old ridged discs. The worn grooves and profile on the disc (or clutch face in this case) eat into the clutch/brake material much faster.

As skimming normally means the car has to sty off the road in bits most people opt to replace with a new one. I went for an AS ultra-light flywheel in mine as an upgrade at the time. Very pleased with my decision.

Was that price for a standard flywheel or a lightweight one

Come to think of it, I'm not too sure as I can't remember but I'm assuming that will be oem.

Don't forget the Hawk WRX clutches are the push type, not pull, it would be getting a new clutch arm kit as well, as they are prone to failing quite quickly.

Yep the mechanic at the specialist did say that. is that the part that costs around £80 from dealers?

Is the Exedy stage 1 you fitted the same as a pink box?
My clutch won't be fitted until end of January as need to do full cambelt first.
I was told by the mechanic that the clutch arm/fork (same thing) sometimes can crack when changing the clutch and only needs replacing if it does get damaged during the clutch change.

Also, how does the exedy blue box compare to pink? I was told the blue box is more OEM?
I've seen a blue box kit with flywheel for £350 on ebay and price seems really good?
Is the blue box clutch okay for 280-290bhp?

I got told no matter which clutch you use, they all have a heavy pedal feel. (not sure if that's completely true) can't think these cars new from factory would have such a heavy clutch.

I have an AP organic clutch on mine. nice and relatively light action. No complaints at all. Alan did say it would only be good for three full launches though....
