Ringer on ebay

Interesting vin plate on this overpriced shed :freak3: EJ255 and a TY754 box? Can even see its new rivets...

Have you reported it to eBay

ossett2k2 08 December 2018 02:43 PM

Probably just a wrong picture mixed in,seems to sell a lot of stuff, and the vin plate shot is of a blue car.

Only has one Impreza for sale though. Given the story on the ad, I’d be inclined to think he doesn’t realise it - that is if the pic is actually of that cars engine bay.

rossyboy 08 December 2018 03:05 PM

You are right though... engine bay should be black. Have asked him the question.

ossett2k2 08 December 2018 03:34 PM

Doesn't mention coil overs in the ad either, shame there's not a full engine bay pic.

silver-sub 08 December 2018 03:58 PM

Suspect.

rossyboy 08 December 2018 04:19 PM

He replied, but all he said was the listing is incorrect as it’s not an STI. Which wasn’t what I asked...

rickybobby 09 December 2018 12:14 PM

Vin plate is off a hawkeye wrx, GD model code and gearbox code etc

rickybobby 09 December 2018 12:16 PM

who else spotted the Opel Manta in the background ;)

the shreksta 09 December 2018 05:46 PM

ive just messaged him asking why he is selling a lemon

the shreksta 09 December 2018 06:10 PM

lol this is the reply i just had back.............

"Correct on a couple of things

And yes the adverts being amended tomorrow and no it’s not an STi and yes I’ve been told incorrectly.

Thanks for pointing it out and rubbing further salt in my wounds.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend"

certainly did lol

Sounds like he’s just been caught out with a car he doesn’t understand. Nothing deliberately sinister from him, but that vin photo makes no sense all round.

rossyboy 10 December 2018 09:34 AM

Looks like it was an error - he's put a pic of the correct vin on his listing now.

BrownPantsRacing 10 December 2018 09:52 AM

But the correct vin plate form the black car now shown also has un-stamped rivets. I thought all subarus had rivets stamped "SUBARU" holding the vin plates to the chassis so it was obvious if they'd been changed?

yes BPR genuine rivets are stamped Subaru

this is bit like the newage we had quite few months back

funny thing is there will always be a poor soul who doesn’t know better and buy such an example :(

That said though, I'm not sure all subarus had the subaru stamped rivets. The earlier ones may have been plain. I don't honestly know when they started fitting them to cars.

I remember that terrible newage spec C a few months back. That was glaringly bad.

Who on earth wants to buy a 24 year old Subaru Impreza though.
It'll be nothing but a money pit
