Finally got a Subaru. (new member)
 

Hi all,

So I thought I would create a post to introduce myself and say hi to you all.

So "Hey Everyone, I'm Dave"

I've been wanting an impreza for a long time now but finances and life kept getting in the way and in August I became a Dad so my thoughts were "well an impreza is off the table now!" (after all the happiness of course)

I work in the motor trade so I always have an ear to the ground and one day out of the blue we had a 2006 blobeye Wrx come in as a trade-in. so I looked it over and although the mileage was high it had been very well looked after, interior like new, well below average age related marks and drove well.. So I took the plunge and now own it! its part toy part project which is just perfect for my needs.

after looking into the docs in more detail. it has a prodrive pack fitted (with Cert) and a fully stamped Subaru service history. which was reassuring!

I will be sharing my journey and no doubt be needing your advice at somepoints. but I hope I maybe able to help others out to with Subaru/Non Subaru problems and become part of the community. :)

I'm also new here but some of the support on this forum is just amazing, so many talented people.
You made a wise choice, wouldn't let the mileage put you off as its been looked after and serviced correctly.
Interesting to see what your plans are with this.

A 2006 Blobeye??? I thought mine was late on an 05

Well done Dave, get some pictures up. Subaru is great car to own. Wouldn't mind a blobeye turbo had a non turbo as a daily driver version which was boring lol

Here is a picture before I did the paper work to bring it home. its had a good clean and now sits in the garage when not in use.
few cosmetics here and there to be done but that's a slow burner.
but if anyone knows where I can obtain an STi spoiler then let me know, doesn't matter if it needs respraying.

I think I'm right in saying the sti spoiler has different fittings than your current low level one so you'd be left with holes in your boot.

Easier to just look for a silver boot lid with sti spoiler.

Looks a nice and original WRX.

Your car is a MY05 not an MY06 a subtle difference but an important one - MY06 are Hawkeye's - it's a strange one as I have a hawkeye on a 55 plate. Yours is a very late registration and mine is an early registration.

Is it modified in any way ?

Yeh late registered indeed. 24 03 2006 to be exact.
im still learning about it but for definite I can say that it has:

Prodrive pack @9890 miles
BC Coilovers
Uprated anti roll bar links all round
and a few poly bushes here and there.

still lots more to learn just need a day of investigating

Think I know this car...if it is the same car then it would have been me that fitted the coilovers, bet the service history book has bulldog Twyford stamps in it?

oh nice! I was wondering if anyone would recognise it. if you have any horror stories keep them to yourself 🤣 and you are correct with the services at bulldog. do you/did you work at bulldog?

Just had a quick look at the ducktail one and I've got to say im not a fan.. The STi spoiler was always an image that popped into my head when I thought of an impreza and in my opinion is the only spoiler that looks right.. saving up the pennies!

Mine's a Hawk Spec D so I went down the route of getting the bootlid to go with the spoiler too. Points to note are make sure you wrap up your bootlid safe and sound somewhere and put the low spoiler with it. They're not worth the postage to sell on..... You need the pair of torsion bar supports too and be very careful fitting them, Get a mechanic if possible to do it as their fingers are expendable!

STi one does use same holes, but there's 8 more of them too.... Give the boot a damn good polish and clean up underneath. If the spoiler has damage to the seal, remember water is meant to run under it..... I ran a bead of silicon around the deceased seal and let it fully dry before i fitted it.

The Upper vane just looks WRONG on a Blob BTW....
