Car being stored for 5/6 months - fuel stabiliser required

Hi All

As per title, I am storing my car from end of October through end of March and I have a full tank of fuel in car. Will I require a fuel stabilizer added to tank or should it be fine to use in march?

Does adding fuel stabilizer have any risks to the engine once I start it up in march?

Good info here from BP.

I would say best option would be to drain the tank and store and refill once its required.

For whatever reason the above link has a B after pdf so throws an error.

Try a dose of this: https://www.google.com/search?q=Brig...t=firefox-b-ab

Works on my over-wintered garden tools, both two, and four stroke. No detrimental effects on the motors. Basically, it's just an octane booster.

I have always stored my cars during the winter season with a full tank with nothing added and I've had no problems at all. Of course you could take it a bit easy when using up the tank if you are unsure about the quality.

Pretty sure the Z4m I had the manual recommended a full tank, think it was something to do with potential for the filler neck/tank to corrode if empty but don’t quote me.

also recommend over inflating tyres to prevent flat spots and chock the wheels instead of using hand brake.

I used a product today called Sta-bil. We will see how it goes. I think you are supposed to store a car with a full tank to prevent condensation/rust in the fuel tank.

Lets see how it goes

thanks
