2008 Impreza Hatch - Built 2.5 Twin Scroll

2008 UK STI - 70,000 miles

Not so common dark grey with Black complimenting mirrors, scoop, roof, vents and spoiler.

Carbon spoiler, PU splitter and ABW arches

XXR 550 18” 8.75"

R888 265 Toyo tyres (need replacing soon)

Pole Position Full forged 2.5

MD321V twin scroll with RCM Equal Length headers (wrapped)

Helix Twin plate clutch

Haywood and Scott exhaust

800cc injectors, and 340 fuel pump

Cylinder heads skimmed and replacement RCM head gaskets fitted in July this year.

Usual switchable maps, only running around 1.6 bar producing around 450bhp, should be tweaked soon to around 1.75 bar circa 500bhp - put it off due to weather/road conditions.

MOT May 2019

Registration obviously not included.

Extensive service history.

Car was taken to a local Subaru specialist 2 years ago for suspect head gasket failure (usual issues). Car was put back on the road but the owner lost interest so I bought it with the ABW arches fitted and had the Pole Position engine fitted alongside with the Turbo, Headers, Clutch, Wheels and much more.

The intention is to continue developing the car, but timing isn’t great, so I either park the car up and develop it in the future when I have free time and more resources (likely next year), or it moves onto the new owner.

Don’t know if it’s just my phone but this has no replies? Seems odd! Nice Car Rob. Any more info on engine build? Parts used etc? Not the best time of year to be selling cars though! You may find you still have it next year and you will be forced to keep and develop it further!!!!! That would be a shame!!!! Hope the misses won’t get to angry if your stuck with it!!!!
GLWTS.

Hiya mate.

Ive had a few private messages, but nothing worth considering at this stage.

The car is Marmite, some believe that the arches ruin the appearance of the car, and the other half love the look.

The engine was built by Pole Position in late 2015. The build is EJ25 hardened crank, acl race main bearings, forged 99.5mm pistons, king race con rods bearings, h beam con cods, arp head studs, cosworth baffle plate. The engine was fit into this car in April/May 2018 running TMIC pushing around 400bhp for a month, gaining some confidence in the car and engine we went FMIC, Oil Catch Can and remapped but started to lift the heads with the increased boost. So since then and prior to TOTB 2018 I had the heads skimmed, 12mm head bolts, RCM gaskets etc etc and mapped. The car is likely to be around 450 right now (not been dyno'd), the only thing to do to get more out of it would be 4 bar map sensor and remap - Will be done come spring.

No need to sell at all, and I am not pushing it all, if I still have it next year I will develop it further for sure. Considerations for the future, Poly Bushes, Braces, and most likely Syvecs.

I took it to Oulton Park on Tuesday, other than getting the brakes a little hot it performed really well. I'll try and find some video's to share from the lads I went with.. I left my GoPro at home - stupid! :(

before you take that anywhere near a T/A round you will nee some decent brakes and oil cooling /baffling before pushing around a track- even with my 2.1 the oil temps (with an oil cooler) start climbing if i,m pushing on track, and i cant drive for a toss lol

I know what you mean mate, I did Oulton Park and was sympathetic with a steady 3/4 lap, then on it for two hot laps from Lodge Corner, temps stayed down but began to climb towards the end of lap two. Brakes were not as bad as expected, some decent pads kept me going but you could notice the difference in performance after just two laps. I’ve a baffle plate fitted so that’s the engine at peace of mind, and as said I only hit wot for two laps at a time and monitored everything :)

Did you keep or sell the car in the end?

Rob Day 09 July 2020 03:43 PM

The engine let go at Oulton Park around April 2019 from memory, was rebuilt around July 2019 but lasted only a few thousand miles before it shat itself due to reason I don't wish to post on here. Currently being rebuilt by one of the best engine builders in the country, hopefully be back up and running in a month or so, but obviously needs to be run in etc. Taking the opportunity to do other things too whilst out.

May be for sale later this year, or it might evolve into something special :)

Blimey that's a bad run of engine builds :(

Yeah, well sort of, the version they are running looks terrible, won't be going. Was hoping to go harewood Sept 10th, also cancelled. Donnington Sept is on, but doubt it'll be ready.

Hope to have something special for TOTB next year, been talking to people in the States 😁

No worries, I think I might have bit :) haven't been on here for ages, got fed up with lack of respect by some members, but then Facebook is just as bad!
