I dont have pics handy but in the past I had one bolted to the front of the inlet manifold where the aircon would be. Dont need aircon n Aberdeen haha

my fuelab installed just in front of driverside suspension tower. not a good photo. In addition to regulator gauge I've tee'd off a Stack gauge fixed on dash. Trev

mines just right of the fmic (strapped to the bracket that holds the fmic in place).

I've also ran it on the firewall itself, but the hose runs end up slightly longer.

I've still to fit mine but was waiting for parallel rail set-up,I was told just the fpr is a pointless mod without.
Is there a benefit in just an aftermarket fpr?

no it will work with any fuel rail set-up............

its simply a means of raising or stabilising the base fuel pressure

I have chosen not to go parrellel as yet, im testing if my issue is a FPR issue, im hoping it is. Basically as im running 340 bhp at 1.4 bar after 5200 rpm im leaning out slightly, im hoping its the fpr not holding good pressure in the rails/ to the injectors to keep the right amount of fuel flowing.

But after researching an aftermarket FPR should work just as good on standard rail setup.

At least on Nasioc they're debating whether parallel fuel rails really are better and some tuners recommend running in series as stock (although newage cars seem to have the lines routed in a different order than classics with cyl.3 not being the last one to get fuel). https://forums.nasioc.com/forums/sho....php?t=2162858

I chose not to have them parallel this time as I couldn't get the fuel lines anything near equal length to get a somewhat neat install. I will see if it causes any issues and will propably have it mapped a bit more safely. I don't think I'll have more than 450 bhp in my car so I didn't see it necessary really. The upgraded rails should have some more volume in them too.

Nice one,I'll just get the rail adaptor and add it to the long list of things to do.
Need to move house then I can start to tear the car apart,fit all the parts I've got.
I hear AS Performance do injector clean&testing,Alyn also likes to do 'package' deals afaik so need to get my list together,really want my car back as my daily drive for next summer at the latest :)

Im plumbing this in this week, i dont have a fluid filled gauge to test the pressure, but i dont plan on leaving the gauge attached, i understand the needle might bounce slightly left to right but if i set the pressure to around 3 bar or just over with vacuum line disconnected hopefully this will be ok , fingers crossed for me lol

Right, well i had alot of issues fitting the sytec style fpr , i opted to fit the adapter in the original direction and cause i was using a reinforced id 8mm hose it touched the cooler side of the turbo, but anyway, fitted it all up and the fpr leaked lol, it had cracked where the union screws in.

So, i had a dilemma, refit the old fpr and waste all that time i had just spent piping the new one in or just throw in the towel.

anyhoo, i fitted the original fpr in the same location as the adjustable one temporarily until i sourced another external FPR. it worked for the time being,

anyhoo, onwards a week and i purchased a 2nd hand brand new (genuine) Tomei one, very nice bit of kit

so decided to fit this on the opposite side of the car next to air filter

Also had hassle with this as i was using a very stiff reinforced pipe it wouldnt seal and kept leaking from the unions around the FPR, so in the end i used non reinforced cotton overbraided fuel hose.

running at 3.2 bar atmospheric and 2.6 under vaccuum. Makes hell of a difference to fuel pressure, had to reduce injector scaling from 0.92 to 0.83 as was running very rich !

the cotton braided hose isn't fit and forget, just to check now and again as it can split when it's been on a while.

yeah i will check from time to time, but ive had reinforced hosing crack from the fuel filter to the inlet hose also so its all a bit of keep an eye on stuff

i found this hose the only type not to seap/leak for some reason, the reinforced hosing just wouldnt seal on the outlets of either external FPR , i could change them for barbed ones but again, i suspect the hose would seap

Might be the hose inside diameter or fitting outside diameter. Some seem to be 5/16", but sold as 8mm, and 5/16 is not the same (7.9mm).
I've had issues before where I've had a 5/16 fitting slightly undersize, and a 8mm hose slightly oversize (manufacturing tolerances).

Also some hoses are just horrible anyway, they almost feel a bit plasticcy.
