Stainless steel exhaust cleaning tips?
Anyone have any Stainless steel exhaust cleaning tips?
Worried about scratching the exhaust and want to get off tar spots aswell. Tried using a electric polisher but broke it lol |
Autosmart Tardis or Autoglym Tar Remover for tar spots
Autosol for polishing. |
I've always used white spirit to remove the tar then t-cut to re-polish after.

wire wool or a brillo pad

Having snow foamed the car:
-Spray on tar remover (wowo's), agitate with a soft bristled brush, rinse off -Spray on iron fallout remover (autofiness), leave for a minute, agitate with a soft bristled brush, rinse -Spray on APC (wowo's) agitate with brush, rinse off After this you've removed everything as gently as possible and I generally leave it there. But if you want you can polish with meguiar's NXT or similar at this point with no risk of scratching. |
Nice I have loads of t cut.

Cillit Bang or any cheap multi surface cleaner - Lidl/Aldi circa 70p stuff is pretty good. Then a good metal polish works a treat.

Good call there. My missus bought some stainless steeling cheating for sink. Tried that and results were amazing. Only did a 15 min clean. Wish I had done a before and after. Even removed all the surface rust on exhaust tip. Although it does say on the back not to use on polished stainless steel surface. Does that mean exhausts?
