Wheel Refurbishment - Central Scotland

Hi all, looking to get my wheels refurbished. 2 of 4 have buckles along with some dodgy paintwork from previous owner. Looking for recommendations!

My ‘go to’ would be Pentland Powdercoating in Edinburgh but I just looked at The wheel specialist’. They seem to offer a more in depth service and have really good reviews. However I got a quote for all 4 and it came in as £384.

Appreciate there is a fair amount of work involved if it’s done right but felt a bit on the high side.

Does this seem alright? Anyone got other recommendations?

The alloys are Prodrive GT1s so I can buy them new for £660....

Appreciate any help or guidance!

Cheers Martyn

The wheel specialist is a corporate franchise so is charging an absolute bomb in comparison to a local fixer.

They charge the guts of £100k to buy into the franchise by the time you buy their equipment.

I can get buckles repaired for £10-£20 a buckle and then a full restoration (paint or powdercoated) for £200. Find yourself someone doing it in the old converted barn with little to no over heads and is only charging equivalent of £20 a hour labour to cover costs.

Get the buckles fix, then wait until after the winter for the refurb. With the state of the roads etc and the crappy winter weather best waiting to spring to refurb them

Try Fife Powder Coatings in Glenrothes. Great service and good prices. Always do all my wheels there!
not sure if they have a website, but you’ll find them on fb
good luck,
