Car with best driving position

Hi,

Due to re-occuring lower back pain problems (seems like I have a bulged disc) I need to replace my daily driver with an automatic as I am having too much difficulty pressing the clutch at the moment.
The needs for the "new" car are:
- very good driving position
- automatic
- medium size
- reliable
- doesn't cost the earth to run
- budget up to £7k or so

I've thought of the Suzuki SX4 but the AWD version is only available in manual. It doesn't have to be an AWD vehicle though so I may look at the FWD one.

What do you guys suggest?

Thanks!

Subaru Tribeca but guessing high on fuel.

May sound odd by I had a 2001 saab 95 aero in auto. It was like sitting in a leather sofa. An old boss had an 3.0 tdi A8 think it was on a 06 or 08 plate and that again was comfortable. Consider a forester xt, sat higher up etc.

I bought an old VW Passat for a similar reason. 1.9 TDI auto for less than £2000 and will keep its value for when you want to sell it on.

Does it need to be high up? As i can imagine bending to get into lower cars might still cause you pain.

Not a freaking BMW with 'sport' seats

from the pool cars I've borrowed at work if agree that the saab seats are really good. Big Volvos are good too, not the most exciting to drive but well built and laid out.
Stay well away from any BMWs if you've got back problems...

Definitely need the hip point higher up from the ground if you have a bad back - SUV / 4x4 as suggested.
Tiguan mk1 dsg 4motion s in budget. Alternatively Skoda Octavia Scout but you'll need a fair bit more money to get a dsg.

Tip or Paddle shift. A little above budget but private sales are less.

I'd say Volvo V70 or the XC70 if you must have AWD. Most comfortable driving position of any car I've driven, short of my old L322 Range Rover with the Vogue seats.

VW Golf GT 2.0 TDI DSG fits the description :thumb: Mk6 ones should be within budget
