Exhaust options for my hatch STi

OK, I am after a bit more noise but want to keep my Prodrive backbox, what options do I have for mid pipe and cat? I don't want to decat BTW.

jaygsi 16 October 2018 10:41 PM

Do you have a second decat? You can remove that and central resonated pipe and will add some noise.

Good question Jay, as far as I understand it the prodrive exhaust on a 330s is only the backbox so the standard STi diagram should be accurate and it looks like I can remove. I am assuming the standard size is 2.5 inch?

correct on 330s 2nd cat is already removed. you can still remove the centre silencer/resonator that will help the noise a bit on it. CharlySkunkweed on here done it.

this is his car

Thanks for that Gambit, definitely sounds a bit better, do you happen to know what he replaced it with?

bugeyestuart 17 October 2018 03:20 PM

Scorpion do a 2nd decat pipe. Had one on mine before going decat. Does make a difference in noise but that was on a cat back system.

Thanks mate, H&S have one as well so will check it out, I assume remap won't be required until the cat is changed or I go for a bigger system?

bugeyestuart 17 October 2018 04:01 PM

I didn't have mine remapped for the 2nd decat. Not advising you to do the same mind,it was my own choice although I didn't have any issues after doing so.

@Rusti. with it being a 330s you already do not have a second cat!

you have a cat in Downpipe, a 2nd decat pipe, a centre section including resonator and a back box.

its the resonator highlighted in the centre section you want to remove and the easiest way is to get it cut out and replaced with a straight section

Yeah i just got a custom exhaust fitter to cut out the resonater and weld a straight peice in its place. Dead cheap and easy.

Rusti 17 October 2018 09:15 PM

Thanks all, that looks like a plan, need to find someone on the south coast who can do it, time for Google :thumb:

Seen a few straight through centre pipes on eBay. But cutting and welding sounds best way.
