11mm arp headstud options

So looking at 11mm headstud options and there seem to be a few different options and prices.
arp 2000, l19 and 625+
Does anyone have any experience of using these at around 500bhp.
I know that a 14mm conversion is ideal but not a viable option at the moment and have seen a few big power builds still using 11mm studs.

a few of the companies i have contacted regarding my engine build have offered the rcm extreme head stud kit for my goal of around 500bhp which are 11mm

https://rogerclarkmotorsport.co.uk/s...-head-stud-kit

ive also been quoted on the 14mm conversion as its a must at my level.

i have just seen these aswell

https://www.iagperformance.com/Coswo...p/20043885.htm

somebody mentioned that the 14mm is a no no as the machined hole is very very close to the liner which makes sense but if it were an issue why would many companies recommend them?

i i have seen some 12mm/14mm studs, is that 12mm into the block and 14mm into the head or vice-versa?

The arp l19 seem to have a higher rating than the RCM extreme at 260,000 and are a little cheaper so might be the right option for me.

Not sure on the fitment of the 12mm/14mm studs but would require machining so not an option for me at the moment.

Those are the 625+ version,a bit more expensive though.

The arp2000 have been used loads at 500 in past. Rcm extreme and cosworth too.

the 12/14 stud is drill block but no need for head drilling

seems like the usual bollox you have been told about 14mm @the_shreksta ............ask a pukka engineering company why every full house build uses nothing but 14mm??

the "extreme" type studs are pretty good but by the time you get to hugely expensive 625 style then the expense is more than simply doing it 'properly' with a 14mm conversion
bear in mind a stud is only as strong as the threads in the block

i thought as much, i dont think ive heard of any 14mm failures. i dont want any regrets with this up-coming build i am planning,i dont wanna push for 500bhp to be told that my head-studs are only good for 450bhp

I had the l19 on mine and they worked great at 592bhp and over 500lb. Think they are rated to 36psi or there abouts.

2.1
running at 2.1bar on methanol

scooby2.5maz 17 October 2018 06:09 PM

2 bar today on meth ( 530 odd lbft ) keep you posted on how long it lasts. Lol

stockcar 18 October 2018 08:54 AM

2.0 will always get a better "clamp" on thinner studs simply because of the relatively small bore compared to a 2.5 which needs all of the help it can .............
