OEM OIl pick up pipe.
 

Not posted for a while i have a Fozzy 2.5XT, back in 2011 i was unlucky to have the pickup pipe crack and then have the engine spit the big end shells out.
At the time IM Subaru tried to lay blame on the car being used for off road. FFs its a 4 wheel drive,even so it has not been off road.
Took the sump , pipe and nappy into europa Sheffield as requested.
Reply from IM was to strip the engine at my cost, then only then would they consider assistance if deemed a manufacturing fault.
Had a new short engine and new OEM parts fitted by a local subaru specialist.
Inquired about the new pick up pipe at the time, yeas no issues with these. .
50k later noticed oil light flickering at traffic lights etc.
Dropped sump last week, yep the pipe has a perfect crack all the way around.
The crack follows the heat marks from when the parts are brazed together.

Now ordered a Killer B pipe, looks like btm end still in tact no debris in pan or or play in big ends.
How many have had this happen?

I believe this is a well know failure mode. Certainly mine was going on my hawk, and I found it on my last hg failure rebuild, before it became a problem. Replaced with a killer b piece, which looks much stronger and less likely to flex.

Their website gives some history on the root cause of the failure, or at least their interpretation.

thats fekking unlucky that is buddy, i believe that a 2.0 sump and pick-up pipe can be used instead. how much are the killer b units?

yeah i totally agree, i cant believe they said going off road caused it.............if that went to court they wouldnt have a leg to stand on.

i wonder if an engineering shop could knock some of these up. is £185 all in including delivery?
