Diesel Subaru

I'm looking to get rid of my e46 bmw 320cd daily and was looking at maybe getting a Subaru hatch diesel, but was wondering if anyone has one or knows how realible they are?

any issues to look out for and that?

Wouldn't bother bud, all I've heard is there a big flop. Every time i see one forsale its knackered. Sure people will be able to confirm this.

I had a diesel legacy , not a great engine, but good overall package. Issues with bearings, very expensive to rebuild 8-10k

Great, so their diesel and 2.5 engines are shyte

Its an assembly issue with the first generation diesel engine that causes crankshaft failure. Had my legacy engine seize solid !
The later cars, 2010 onwards, may be okay but I'm not sure if the Impreza hatch had these later engines.

Subaru have now stopped diesel engine production for it's passenger fleet cars. I wonder why?

I was one of the first in the UK to have the wrxd
great car 50mpg then at 42k mikes started using lots of oil and fuel economy dropped to 44mpg

intercooler full of oil
crankshaft problem I think
one of the first in the UK for it to happen
10k repair bill fortunately I had taken an extended warranty after the three years so was covered

broke. My heart and traded it in for the nismo as soon as I got it back
a 25k car should if lasted me for 10-15 year not three years and 4 months

still got my greenwagon after 18 years though

only 200 ever made

had a 2010 2.0D RX for about 3 years, no problems with it whatsoever, had a couple of mods done, remap by Litchfield & a dpf back stainless exhaust with quad tailpipes. could not fault the car - the level of trim was spot on, full leather, electric drivers seat, push button start cruise control to name a few. not very good mpg though probably got around 40 to 45mpg on average.
