Which ECU??

I have a Type R V4, and down the line I intend to exchange my Apexi ECU with handheld controller for something better. If i hang on to the car long term, my plans will include going to a 6 spd JDM DCCD box, bigger turbo (Borg-Warner or possibly an SC42 or SC46) and more power...It's a semi closed, forged 2.1 stroker with FMIC and currently running a VF35, 5spd DCCD with UK 5th gear and making about 350 hp (ie: maxed out)
What's the general consensus about Syvecs vs Simtek vs Alcatek?? Any pros and cons? Simtek seems about half of the price of the SYVECS set up, but I don't know if this is reflected in the performance or if it's down to their branding?
Any thoughts or opinions appreciated.

Syvecs is all singing all dancing and certainly not a requirement on a 20 year old car

You could certainly get similar results on something A LOT cheaper, ECUTEK, simtek, link, etc

Speak to a reputable tuner close to you for advice

Thanks Wrighty..the trouble is, a dealer would probably advise the one he stocks...

Simon,

As I’ve said on Type RA forum, call Mark @ TD RACING, he’ll not fob you off with bull$hit or sell you an ECU you don’t need to fund their pockets. Simtek is cracking buddy.

Your mapper is the most important part of the equation. Force him to use something he doesn't know, and you'll get a sub par map.
Find a dealer you like, then use what they are good at mapping.
Or decide on the ECU, and find someone who is familiar with it.

I wen't for a Link G4+, all of those you mentioned are more or less worthless outside the UK if you wan't to get your car mapped. Of course that's not a problem for you but wanted to give you an alternative that's larger globally.
