SOLVED - Immobiliser Issue (I think)
Hi all
I was doing some work on my 02 Bug Eye WRX earlier, which necessitated unplugging the battery and ECU. I've plugged it all back in, but the car won't start. Both keys will lock and unlock the car. However, the car won't start. Also, with the key turned all the way on, when pressing the button on the key, the car will lock, instead of turning off the immobiliser. Any ideas on how I can reset this? Thanks |
sounds daft, were you pressing the clutch when trying to start it ?

I'm sorry, I don't understand.
What does the pressing the clutch have to with it? It's not in gear, if that's what you mean. The engine will turn over but not fire. The light around the ignition barrel is green if that helps. |
Some require the clutch peddle to be depressed to start . . .

Nope, tried again to be sure, but have done that before.
The main thing that's odd is that the immobiliser doesn't recognise the ignition is on. Instead of just turning off the immobiliser, it turns on the alarm. I'm sure that's the key (see what I did there) problem here. BTW, I can't use the keypad as it's been damaged before. |
There are two immobiliser devices.
One in the sigma alarm and one OEM one that utilises a transponder chip in the key. If the keypad for the alarm is damaged why not purchase a new one? |

Because it really winds me up when I find threads with the same problem I have, but no solution, I'm adding the fix here.
Check the IGN fuse in the interior fuse box, mine had blown*. Something so simple. *Technically we blew it when prodding wiring.... |

Hi all, I am new on here this may have already been done time and time again. have issue with sigma alarm it has a number keypad in glove box don't have the code for it. lost when in garage last time. had the battery out of the car for a while and yes as you
guess will not start. any ideas how to fix this. Its driving me nutz :) |

I bought a 2001 forester non turbo and everything was fine for about 1 week then I drove to carwash drove back home and cleaned my interior, when I was doing that I've made a mistake and left the ignition turned on and well wiping down dashboard and radio eccetera obviously I've turn blinkers on wipers on hazards and the radio buttons were pushed as well I didn't think anything of this until I went to start car and then I have a flashing key signal which would I put the key to on the light goes solid red and the engine light is flashing I don't have any codes as I wasn't giving the book or anything there's nothing in the glove box and I'm really stuck can somebody please help me thank you |
