Successful action against Subaru for bearing failures
Hi all I have a 64 plate STi with main bearing failure at 37000 miles and a full dealer history. I have paid for a new short block at £5K. Having taken legal advice I am checking if others have had similar issues as in the USA there have been identical issues and there have been two successful class action law suits against Subaru. I plan to build a case on this and other issues and wondered if others have had similar experiences. At present Subaru have declined any assistance whatsoever, which given this is our fourth STi is shocking......it will be the last !! |

I wasnt aware that there was issues with the bearings, I've heard about the piston/head gasket issues. If you have bought a standard block for £5k then I'm afraid afrahave wasted your money as a well built forged 2.5 could have been purchased for that price if not a little cheaper. |
Subaru of America (SoA) are a different franchise to International Motors (Subaru UK).
Secondly, If you read this thread, pull up a chair and a cuppa, then you will understand that IM are not budging or accepting responsibility - https://www.scoobynet.com/scoobynet-...-failures.html US Laws are very different to the UK and it took three Class Actions cases (only the last was successful) in the US before Subaru moved an eyelid. If you think you have the money and can afford a good lawyer then crack on. |
If the engine has not been built yet then worth putting better crank bearings in before it is , often when you get hg failure within a year bottom end goes on the 2.5 , not as many fail when it’s the 2 litre , when my Fsti x 2 hg failed on two different Fsti’s the bottom end needed to be done too
