Our new project is worthy of a Grand Designs, from all the professional folk we are involved with. Sorry but I'd have to smash that bloke in the face if he wittered about the budget, design etc :D |
It'll be all the usual drama of permissions, budget, baby and time. Cracking little place now though and will be for sale shortly.

Me and the Mrs are pondering whether to sell plot now it's got planning permission for super country home or go in full hog on the build |

I said that to the wife, too small for a family, more of a young couple or retired older couple, but stairs will become an issue. Someone will pay a chunk for it though. I hope he gets what he's asking for it!

We applied to GD, but we had no baby , and our stonemason swore and told too many stories .

Enjoy watching GD , in the middle of a self build at the moment , just about got to grips with how the building trade operates now , as in turning up when they feel like it , and finishing early , apart from that it's going ok.
Was hoping to be in by Christmas , but can't see that happening ! |

I wonder how much of that debt is due to the Building heritage being arses and living in cuckoo land by making unrealistic demands. McCloud rightly takes a dim view of some of their daft requests that jepodise the whole project and in turn could cause listed buildings to decay further as nobody wants to deal with them. I recall a story where they had to approve paint colour samples. Owner painted several walls in 'differing' shades for the inspector to approve...after much umming and arrrring, one was selected....Turns out they were all the identical colour from the same paint pot! :lol1: |
Jimmy was told today it might be a bit negative. He's a bundle of positive energy so I'm hoping they don't slate him too much.

I think they went quite easy on him , he came across well , did a good job , I like the house , but as said needs to be bigger for a family home |

Yep, I know the location well and have driven past it for years. It's just off quite a fast road between Aylesbury and Oxford. The location wouldn't be my choice personally as it's incredibly isolated from other villages.
Love how it turned out though, very nicely done indeed and all things considered to do all that for £300k is amazing. |

It was quite funny watching the show, I can sympathise with the builders, having told Jimmy I'd do him a simple website, which I did in a few hours he went on to break it, often hourly, couldn't keep his hands off :lol1: This is my mate Blaise, he supplied a lot of really nice local wood for the interior, table in the living room is for sale on his web site. |
That's good to know, the table was lovely and the woodwork. Really complimented the quirky building.
I couldn't work with Jimmy, he'd drive me nuts as I need to be far more organised. But you certainly can't fault his enthusiasm one bit and if it were not for that I doubt it would have got finished. That 3D house scan certainly earned its money. That was great, Look at us hard nut boy racer Subaru owners chatting about Grand Designs!!! hahaha :D |
we'll be compering pastel coloured curtains next :lol1:
