Clutch change

Would I get away with fitting a 230mm clutch from a classic sti to put in place of my 225mm on my 97 uk2000?

only the very early cars had 225mm, would have thought your 97 'should' have had a 230mm from the factory (same flywheel) but lots of people skimp as the 225mm clutch can be had quite cheap.........

you need to ensure the flywheel is true either way and if swapping to a 230mm from 225 ensure there isn't a ridge where the end of the old plate would have sat

I assumed it was the big power cars like sti and wrx that had the 230mm for clamping pressure. I'm after a 230mm clutch for reliability in stead of the 225 jobby .I'm doing my rear mains seal and oil separator next month and it's had a clutch before I bought it. Just thinking should I change it for piece of mind

no it was a std upgrade that Subaru carried out across the Impreza Turbo variants around my95 from memory...........

So what is the stock 230mm clutch rated to in terms of power.

factory STi's had around 280-300 std and seem to cope with 320 or so in std form..........
