I have a 2010 wrx sti saloon, now having problems with the alarm. I think it has the Sigma S32 system. Here`s how the problem started. After undergoing knee replacement surgery 3 weeks ago I did not touch the car being unable to drive for about 6 weeks. The result of this was that the alarm triggered I then found the 12v battery was flat, so fully charged it refitted it and for a couple of days no problem. Then the alarm kept triggering. Got the book out checked how to trouble shoot the system, which I did - the led flashed 14 times according to the book this was the under bonnet or boot sensor. Found the under bonnet one no problem but I cannot find one in the boot.
At first the alarm would set then go off after a variable period of time, now the alarm will not set, it just alarms after the warning chirps.

Any ideas anyone

Like the Newage, it's part of the lock/latch mechanism.

From Page 4 of the Alarm manual

If a door or the tailgate/boot has been inadvertently left open, the vehicle's external button and Smart Entry Card button will not operate - ensure all doors and the tailgate/boot are firmly closed and then press any of the vehicle's external buttons or Smart Entry Card's lock button again.

If the vehicle's bonnet is open, the vehicle will lock/arm, however, the siren will bleep repeatedly for 15 seconds as a warning to close the bonnet (Perimeter Warning Bleeps - see page 7) - if this happens shut the bonnet. If the bonnet is not shut within 15 seconds of arming, then after the “Perimeter Warning Bleeps'' the alarm system will trigger.

Sounds as if it is the boot latch or associated wiring.

Check to see if your boot light stays on with the boot lid shut...........

OK will do, one more question is the sensor located in the lock in the boot lid or in the latch in the body?

do you have a link to the alarm manual

Cheers

The lock assembly in the boot lid.
I only have the copy supplied with my MY11 Saloon

update on problem.
had my local sigma installers have a look at the alarm. both the boot & bonnet sensors are working correctly, however when the alarm is armed the siren beeps for about 15 seconds, the indicators flash twice then the main siren sounds. Reading the alarm manual this indicates the bonnet is open, if it was the boot sensor the alarm wouldn't arm.
the expert then disconnected the bonnet sensor, tried to arm the alarm - same result as before. I was then stood talking to him before he left to go back to base when I tried to arm the alarm strangely it did! this left the guy totally baffled. he then left to consult one of his colleagues. about 2 hours after this the alarm triggered, when I checked for the fault code 14 flashes again the bonnet sensor but the bonnet sensor was still disconnected! His method of disconnecting the sensor was to cut the wire from the sensor to the sigma unit which didn't fill me with confidence, surely it would have been common sense to remove the plug from the sensor.

it looks like the sigma unit itself might have an intermittent problem, now waiting for the dealer to get back to me and all I do now is use the last trigger override when setting the alarm.
