A good geo can make a massive difference so it’ll be good to here how it feels after that. Have you got any plans to get it on track? (before I fcuked it up :banana:). I don’t have any plans to track the car, it’s my daily & don’t think I could bring myself to beat on it that hard as I’d be in trouble if something serious on it broke. Maybe one day once it’s built & up together & not on the original 110k engine etc. After yesterdays research I really need to pull my finger (wallet :Whatever_) out & upgrade the brakes too as that’s an area that has always been lacking. |
What alignment set up are you going for and do you know roughly how much it will cost :)
Is that pads and disks or full big brake kit with braided lines etc :norty: |

Hi, great thread.
Have a look at the Godspeed Brembo 4 pots..and i suspect not a huge amount more than discs/pads etc. Fitted on my classic and they are superb. i had Alcons on a P1 before and these are easily a match for this and maybe a little better. I did look 6 pot but was told only really if you do track days will you see any benefit. Steve |

Looks like a lot of kit for they money, but I think the calipers are the same as what I have (but with stock discs & sh1t stock pads). I've seen a few with Porsche calipers, no idea who makes the adaptors though. |
There are a few Brembo calipers. You won't be gaining anything by changing the your newage ones to the classic Brembo kit :)
Like you said pads and discs. However if you were to sell your calipers and put the money towards the AP kit :norty: I'm teasing lol. How much are the AP kits running now. |

I think the rear is now 5mm higher (the shocks are anyway). After backing the damping back to setting 15 (from 20) & driving with the rear ARB on its stiffest setting I am not impressed & am increasing the damping. I think I am on 18 now & it needs to go up more or maybe I need a stiffer front ARB as the whole thing just feels "loose". Saying that I can't afford an alignment until payday & I also can't be bothered to jack the front left wheel up & play with the camber as it's angled like I hit a curb. I was thinking more along the lines of wider wheels & tyres. An 9.5J rim with an offset of ET38 & a 245 tyre, up from a 7.5J with an offset of ET44 & a 225 tyre. So I am crap with time but coilovers were on & after driving about for a bit, stiffening them up I eventually found a setting I was comfortable with & ran with it for several weeks.
I decided it was still too bouncy so one evening I added a couple more clicks of damping to the shocks. Then I was half way to work the following day & I realised it chassis felt much better (close to how it was), the stiffness was back :luvlove: - More on this later I took the car for the alignment when the guy on the lift pointed out that he'd minced my rear passenger toe adjustment nut so I bought a new set (lowest in the pic). And finally the star of the show, rear anti roll bar moved from the stiffest to the medium setting...

The car instantly drives off the throttle now, before it would pause for a second so you'd get on the gas, there'd be a delay & then it would pick up. Now it is just instant. However the star of the show, the chassis setup. Backing off the anti-roll bar. I upped it previously when the shocks were softer, now with the damping firmed up the whole thing was too taught. Now it's still the firm ride I like, but it sinks into corners much nicer, with loads more feel & grip. Much happier with it now as it's been annoying me recently. Next up to fit the other Perrin shims, raise the front shocks 5mm & then get the alignment done. Maybe experiment with the softest rear ARB setting too :) I also contemplated getting it corner weighted until about when I saw the price :wall: |
If you're happy using polybushes for the outrigger bushes, I'd suggest powerflex or similar that can be pushed in by hand as you're clearly DIYing most of this as I have, this makes the job very straightforward:
If you're just using the bushes that sandwich into the voids then disregard this! |

Also no fcuking about cutting & pressing stuff. So another dry Saturday & off I went. Got the 4th & final diff brace bush fitted...

Last job under the rear of the car was to soften the ARB back onto the lowest setting, where it was before I fitted the coilovers (& ran stock shocks with Eibach springs)...

It’s been “drain to atmosphere” since I last tried to empty it so this is a much better solution :lol1: Getting somewhere with the chassis now, I am ready to get an alignment this afternoon & am thinking I could back the damping off on the coilovers click for better “feel” (means taking the rear seat out though :(). |
