WRX 04 typical EGTs (Exhaust Gas Temperature)
 
I have just mounted EGT probe and gauge into my 04 WRX (PPP). The probe is mounted in the exhaust manifold where runners from cylinders 2 and 4 connect (at least this is what I have been told by a shop). I watch my EGTs and they seem a bit high to me (all values in Celcius degrees):
- idle - ~460;
- normal acceleration in a city (about -0,3 - 0,5bar of boost) - 700-800;
- motorway @ 75mph - 830;
- motorway @ 85mph - 870;
- motorway @ 100mph - 900;
- hitting full throttle from 70-80mph to 105mph - I have noticed 950 and stopped accelerating.

My WRX is bone stock, apart from PPP map and sti (catless) uppipe. Couple of months ago I have it checked on road with an AFR in the backbox. During WOT runs on motorway it showed AFR of 10,5, not going higher. Because AFR is right, running lean is probably not the problem right? Or could it be lean only on cylinder 4 while others compensate to make mean AFR look OK?
Does it look like something is wrong? The gauge and probe are Greddy replica, so I cannot be 100% sure of them. Can someone with EGT gauge share his or her EGTs?

they do seem on the high side but I'll bet those temps aren't abnormal generally, just a bit surprised by low boost temps.
I have a very different set-up with forged 2.5, 440hp, W/M injection, tubular headers, Mocal oilcooler, 71 deg waterstat, my oil and water temps are always on the cool side.
However, about town I'm still a lot cooler than you, 450-550's and I've never seen above 780c even on track. Sensor is at the header junction box and runs to a thermocouple monitor in car.
Some of it's relevant but the w/m would impact on my wot temps, by how much I've no idea.

I think that bigger turbo, tubular headers and a proper tune have great impact on lowering EGTs. Is there anyone who has EGT gauge in a stock or PPP WRX?
