Single Din Alpine in a Hawkeye Wagon

Hi All,

I have got a Hawkeye wagon, I have had it about 2 months. I have a Single Din Alpine headhunt that I want to install, is there an idiots guide on here or can someone guide me in what cage I need to buy and what's the process? My car is a WRX Wagon from 2006 2.5 SL. Any help on this would be great and any other worthwhile info, as I have never had a Scooby before and always just admired them from afar.

Cheers

Can't help you with a guide right now but I would recommend changing your speakers too because the stadard ones are gash. Shallow door mounts so you will need to make or buy speaker adapters so you can get something better in there. Dynamat or similar while you're there, and check around the internals of the door for anything that will rattle - fit speaker & keep the door card off while you crank up the volume. IIRC there was a vertical piece on mine which required a bit of packing.

Don't worry too much about the rear speakers because they're tucked away down low and you can't really hear them anyway.

It's been a long time since I changed my head unit but I think all I needed were a fascia adapter and a wiring harness adapter. :wonder: Most online retailers will sell them.

[QUOTE=ZANY;12022991]Hi Zany

I am interested in that mate, what is the process of taking the old unit out and what cage do I need?

Kind regards,

ZANY 23 August 2018 04:14 PM

You don’t need a cage mate there are 2 brackets attached to 5he double din stereo that you use to put your single din and pocket to

For removal and installation do a quick search on YouTube for removal of stereo mate or get someone competent enough to do it :thumb:

if you was local id do it for free only takes bout 20mins all in...

If your brackets are missing I have a spare set in the shed for sale

Where are you located roughly?

How much are we looking at for all the necessary bits including delivery?

I have fitted a single din unit to cars I have had before but this is more complicated that why I am unsure what items I need exactly, like cables and cages etc etc.. the unit I want to put in is an Alpine CDE-174BT.

Thanks for your help.

Kind regards,

Reece
