Standard 2.5 headers different to 2.0 headers

Just wondered if there is any difference in them that would make them sound different? I have a 3" afterburner center section and raptor back box with 3" decat on my hawk and it's sounds no way near as good as my 2.0 which had the same set up, a little disappointed really as my 2.0 sounds absolutely fantastic.

Yes, both manifolds and x-pipe are all different part numbers but as to what exactly changed probably the bore dia.

The same 2.5l manifold/ cross pipe arrangement is used on the Hatch WRX STi whereas the newage 2.0L setup is used on the Hatch WRX

over the years the headers have become more and more "equal" (or as much as they can with single scroll) hence the noise difference

what you loose in 'burble' you gain in efficiency

depending on your power target i would be loathe to change to aftermarket and a good set of ported headers matched with a Harvey Smith trick up-pipe will offer a more rounded gain generally

thanks alyn, target power is around 390-420bhp depending on which turbo I choose, would love more but I'm on std rods albeit with arp rod bolts which gives a slight improvement for more power.

I love the burble-to me it's part and parcel of owning a Subaru. So would 2.0 sti ported headers fit along with a trick up-pipe? Would it benefit on having them wrapped aswell?

cheers

Same as me, i love the subaru burble but have a jdm import with equal headers.
