Any avid readers? Whore authors......

If you read much, you'll know the ones. You pick up a book, thinking it's by someone you read before, as his name is prominent, only to find it's by some unknown, sometimes not even the same sex.

And if someone bought it for you...what do you do, take it back?

One of the worst is James Patterson, whose early work I liked. Don't even pick his up now. What they are doing is dishonest.

Aye, anyone would think they were hard up.

Even one of my favourite authors, Stephen King, has done it to give his son a leg-up into authorship. The book was awful.

Charles Clarke did it with his Rama series. First one was great, rest were mediocre (after Gentry Lee got involved)

Stephen King makes it very clear that he is not the sole author of the book and has either Joe or Owen on the cover in big letters also.

But the others do too.

How much of the books is written by the famous author, I don't know. Just smacks of dishonesty. A bit like advertising a SUBARU IMPREZA made by Kia....oh...wait...that would be the hatch?
