I suspected you'd be too boneheaded to have a proper response to that

Not very nice that so what you basically mean to say is you employ cheap labour from people who are unfortunate enough to have a stable country. Then they invade other peoples and expect to live as if they were at home instead of blending in. As was said at the beginning of the thread when in Rome do as the Romans do. In my way of thinking that would be the done thing. Just like staying in somebody's house or a hotel you abide by the rules and don't rub other people up the wrong way.

I don't like Boris and have no interest in reading his article.
The following is what a muslim friend told me

The Burkha has no place in UK society and should be banned. Anybody wearing one is rejecting integration into UK society and therefore will NEVER play a useful role in this country. All they will do is produce lots of children who will be equally backward, fail to integrate and very likely be economically unproductive.
This is a Wahabi (Saudi) influenced trend, a society known to subjugate its women. Liberals who defend a woman's 'choice' to wear a Burka are intellectually challenged. How can it be a choice if the wearing of a Burka is encouraged by a society and religion dominated by men? How many female Imams and 'islamic scholars' are there in places like Saudi?

This is lost on liberals who perversely defend illiberal practices in the name of being liberal, go figure.

If you want to wear a Burka fook off to Saudi and don't come back.

Yes that well known liberal Boris Johnson.

This whole argument is a very slippery slope.

interesting, you don't believe that women should be free to choose what they wear, yet presumably you think you should be free to insult whoever you want, in any way you want?

Told YOU before, liberal boy, you get back what you give from me now.
i see you are still peddling your liberal fairy story.

We all know Boris did it for the publicity and he will support whichever cause he feels gives him the right (most?) exposure.

It's not a slippery slope, its subjugation and has no place in progressive society; we should be engaging and educating those that don't recognise that fact and help them move into the 21st century.

Good luck with that.

As I already mentioned, tell me how it worked in 1939?

Just because its challenging doesn't mean you shouldn't try to do the right thing.

All the good will in the World won't make a jot of difference there is no educating them they are doing it for their religious beliefs despite the fact the Quran does not require women to cover themselves up head to toe. As already pointed out this is a Saudi influence and if they are that hardline then they would be better off practising their form of religion in Saudi

It must just be a coincidence that lots women wear the full garb in the hottest parts of the world ;)

Heat management...?

If so why don't the men wear the same gear?

It's subjugation dressed up as religious compliance...so we should still aspire to helping them.

I agree it is but they are indoctrinated to the way of thinking and there is no way to change it. Stopping it from being forced on women going forward yes but even then you are battling a brain washing culture where it's nigh on impossible to stop/change.

I agree to certain extent.

I ban would be wholly wrong though
