Spec C Type RA-R Yellow - Who's Gonna Buy It?

Welcome to our stunning Yellow Subaru Impreza WRX STi Spec C Type RA-R…..
(Now supplied with brand new original suspension struts)

With only 300 of this variant produced, they are certainly among the rarest of Subaru Impreza’s.
Not only this, but it is the rarest of the colours that were produced, with only 50 sport yellow RA-R’s being made in total.
(125 white, 125 blue and 50 yellow)

Japanese HPI Clear
Japanese service history

http://vi.raptor.ebaydesc.com/ws/eBa...esc-img-full-2
Japanese mileage verification
49,545 kilometres (still reading in KM’s)
2x keys
Unmarked original wheels
Unmarked original Brembo calipers
Recent service (including cambelt)
4x new tyres (Michelin Pilot sport 4)
Superb underside condition
Cavity waxed box sections/chassis rails
Paintwork professionally machine polished

With a vast amount of performance upgrades over a standard WRX STi, the RA-R is one of the most sought after ‘modern day’ Subaru’s and this example is really a cut above the usual example’s.

The 2.0-litre Turbocharged engine came fully blueprinted, and with the use of a twin-scroll turbo, revised intake, new exhaust and more aggressive camshafts, they produce a very impressive 320ps (316bhp).
Add to this the fact they are 70kg’s lighter than a standard WRX STi, and with braking being taken care of by the huge Brembo six piston calipers with two piece front discs, they are just spectacular to drive.

History:
Having spent the majority of its life in Japan, the underside condition is as you would expect – fantastic.

Exported from Japan on the 29th of January 2018.
Still yet to be registered, so that the purchaser can be the first UK registered owner of this example.

Since arriving in the UK, the car has had various works to ensure it is ready to be enjoyed by the new owner.
This of course includes a cambelt service plus much more, details of which can be read through the listing below.
With full Japanese service history, the low mileage is verified, along with the mileage data on the Japanese HPI report.

Body & Paintwork:
With only 50 of the Spec C Type RA-R models finished in the Yellow, this is a rare car indeed.
Upon arrival to ourselves we had the paintwork on this vehicle fully machine polished to make it really look its best - it looks simply stunning!
None of the usual swirly or dull paint here!

Obviously being a fresh Japanese import, the car is without any corrosion issues – and we have had the car on our ramp to clean the underside, which looks great.
The box sections have all been cavity waxed as well, we decided against applying any black underseal to the underside as the chassis is too good to cover up – we can apply clear Dinitrol sealant at an extra cost.

Interior & Trim:
As you would expect, the interior is in superb condition throughout.

The original steering wheel and gearknob are in great order with very minimal wear, as are the seats and the original Subaru floormats are still present.

Two Defi gauges have been fitted, one of which read’s in MPH which is a nice addition, as the car has been left in KM’s for originality purposes.
These two gauges could easily be removed, and they have been attached via foam tape – so no nasty screws in the dashboard!

Engine:
The engine runs perfectly as you would expect, and has just had a service carried out which included a cambelt change.
A cold start confirms that this is a nice quiet engine, with no unwanted noises either when cold or hot.

Likewise, on the road the car performs just as it should do, with a smooth power delivery throughout the rev range.

The engine bay itself presents very well indeed, exactly as you would expect from a low mileage and cared for example.
The only none original item being the Forge dump valve.

Running Gear:
As mentioned previously in this advert, we have had the vehicle on our ramp and we have cleaned the underside of the vehicle, this includes wheels off and cleaning wheel arches.
It would be very fair to say that the underside is in great condition throughout, with no corrosion issues whatsoever!

The wheels and calipers look superb and are in great condition, with new Michelin Pilot sport 4 tyres fitted.
As you would expect, the car drives great and the six piston Brembo calipers perform superbly.

Other than KYB coilover suspension (the car is now supplied with brand new original suspension struts) , and braided brake lines, the car is without modification to the running gear.

Is everything original and oem on the car?

hedgecutter 27 July 2018 11:02 PM

You need to see the other, 5000 mile, £65000 one that Hurst are bringing in!

They are very special cars and it totally goes against the grain but 65k is mad money on an Impreza. If I had it I’d get a Spec C RA and spend the near 40k on it. Now that would be one seriously sorted Scooobie. I know that’s not the point of the limiteds and they are very well sorted from factory etc but I personally would go in a different direction with that sort of money. Just my mad opinion.

The one that cost 39K at auction? I bid 30K on it and thought I had a remote chance but luck was not on my side :(

22B's were £30k a few years ago. Who would have thought.

Pretty much what I was going to say. The RA-R is the ‘newage’ 22B.

And a better car. I’ve owned a 22B and been lucky enough to drive the RA-R, I know where my money would be going.

Heres me thinking I'll put the R205 up for £40K, I guess with mine being the only registered one in the UK i could ask for a premium.

Standard STI's come in without any issues. The issue occurs with all the special editions, because the Japanese take off some number on the logbook/Dereg which relates to emissions. If those numbers aren't there then the cars can not go though our IVA process unless further tests are carried out or a model report is created.

SVA no longer exists.
Now IVA (individual vehicle approval)
https://www.gov.uk/vehicle-approval/...hicle-approval

Tidgy 03 August 2018 01:36 PM

ah k, how does it work with kit cars? they wont have any emission data

P1-Murph 03 August 2018 02:08 PM

Up at that money and on coilovers... then its been edited and says fitted with new original suspension....Hmmm.
Only way to confirm if its the original suspension is by checking the part number on the struts.

Another one up for sale by Torque GT, completely original and looks super clean!!

As per the link there are two levels of IVA, Basic and Normal
Kit cars fall under the basic version

Would it not fall under the same catagory as a 'personal Import' or even being a special edition 'very low volume production vehicle'?

Tidgy 03 August 2018 03:59 PM

'Very low volume production vehicles - M1 & N1 only (class ‘L’) (1) A vehicle is a vehicle manufactured in very low volume if the condition in sub-paragraph (2) is satisfied. (2) The total number of vehicles of the family of types to which the vehicle in question belongs which are manufactured in the world during any period of 12 months falling within the period of 36 months immediately preceding the month in which the vehicle was manufactured does not exceed 300.'

isn;t there 300 made? so would fall under that?

What are you talking about now kit cars??
A lot of the groups refer to cars from the EC.

Japanese cars have their own section - Annex 7

Worth a proper read https://assets.publishing.service.go...iva-scheme.pdf

Not really, as we get older into mid life and later life with higher disposable income means we are willing to spend more on those cars we may have not been able to afford growing up.

I've been a Subaru fan all my life and never rated the 22B, however it really appeals to me now and reminds me of my childhood (retro). I bought one for £32k three years back in Japan knowing it would be worth 100k in a couple of years, but used a new agent some Spanish chap via facebook who tried to add a 2k premium on top of what was agreed. I told him to shove the car up his ass I'm guessing he had no problems shifting it.

Completely agree, you'd need your head testing to pay that
