Blobeye 54 plate front driveshaft differences

Can someone shed light on the different driveshafts that will fit this car. I bought it with a little work needed and noticed a driveshaft was worn and a boot knackered on the other side. I bought a shaft and it fits and car works fine but needed to replace a driveshaft seal. When changing this I noticed the shafts were different. One has 3 flats on it whilst the other is completely round. Are they basically the same but different years. What type should the car have,

I'm probably going to tackle this on my 05 plate blobeye soon. On mine, the inner CV joint has three 'scoops' which as far as I know means it has a male shaft into the differential. If it is perfectly round, there should be a pin through it and it'll have a female hole, and the differential will have the male shaft. It does seem strange that you've got two different types, as I would have thought the differential is either male or female, not both. But I suppose differentials are allow to be non-binary gender too :)
