2007 Hawkeye sti,forged 2.5/350bhp

so im testing the water on this one, i have an urge to buy a big 4x4 for me and the mrs to do some travelling around europe so in a nutshell the impreza has to go. its my 3rd impreza and i have owned it since september last year.

-£12500

-2007 hawkeye sti in 02c blue

-mot 29/04/2019

-75k mileage (will get correct miles when i get it back from thwaites)

-less than 11k on the engine

-2 keys but only 1 works, both had new batteries this year but 1 has lost its memory so needs to be re-programmed.

-showing as 6 previous owners but there are receipts in the folder for private plates being used on the car.

the guy i bought it from had the engine built by scoobyclinic after the previous build by the previous owner failed. the cars 1st engine obviously failed (as do most 2.5's) so it was sent to a company called seditas cars in ayrshire on the 31/03/2014. the following work was done....

-to remove engine and send to john Mckean for full strip/overhaul and rebuild using forged pistons, acl main and big end bearings, arp rod bolts, new high pressure oil pump, new modine, new head gaskets, all new seals (genuine). turbo sent to cr turbos for strip and hybrid rebuild.billet comp wheel, new actuator and machined comp and turbine housings.the total for this was £2897.64. mileage was @ 40,801.

on the 01/06/2015 seditas cars supplied and fitted an ap racing clutch with an extreme lightweight flywheel, new flywheel bolts and spigot bearing. mileage was @ 53,235.

ive never heard of seditas cars before and i have no idea of the quality of their work but i have quite alot of receipts from them for mapping/geo set-up and the fitting of various parts like denso injectors/samco hose/dump valve all of which means nothing now as the car has a new engine and has had full suspension overhaul.

the rebuild from seditas cars lasted around 25k so make of that what you will.

the car was then bought by a guy called jack in early 2016,unfortunate for him the engine failed in his ownership so he sent it to scoobyclinic on 04/09/2016 to have the following....

-forged 2.5 with closed deck block from scooby-clinic
-mahle 2618 pistons
-std rods with arp rod bolts
-11mm arp headstuds
-new crank
-new race bearings throughout
-heads skimmed
-uprated valve springs and retainers
-cosworth head gaskets
-egr blanking kit
-complete gasket and seal kit

it was also mapped by them and made 351bhp and 370ftlbs.

the total was £7160, the car was with them until 12/11/2016 mileage was approx 65k going on past mot's and paperwork.

jack then revisited scoobyclinic on the 07/08/2017 for a royal purple oil change, dyno run, boost hose and clamp and moving the defis to a different location.

i bought the car on 23/09/2017

on the 26/09/2017 i went to scoobyworld to have the backbox swapped for a afterburner vortex angled backbox, now my car has the signature burble i longed for.

i sent the car to mark @ thwaites for a gearbox oil change/diff oil change and a general once over as i wasnt happy with the suspension set-up.

the car had hsd coilovers on it when i bought it which were shot so after xmas i sent the car to chevron motorsport to have the following done....

-full set of tein flex z coilovers
-front and rear whiteline anti roll bars
-rear caster bush kit
-front drop links
-bump steer kit
-camber bolts
-new gearbox oil
-full geo set up
-rotten back plates removed

simon at chevron also noticed that my oil pressure was only just over 1 bar @ idle and suggested an oil change so i agreed and he replaced the royal purple oil with fuchs 10w60 oil and new filter, now my oil pressure sits at around 2 bar on idle. i also got simon to put me a new DAMD flat bottom steering wheel on and a full set of godspeed g-hook discs and pf Z rated pads along with stainless lines and new fluid, turned out my car already had stainless lines on so they were sent back to godspeed for a refund.this was completed on 09/02/2018. the car was also fitted with a new set of 4 x yoko advan ado8r tyres 225/40/18 which are fantastic. the total for this was £2814 (plus the cost of the damd wheel/tyres/brakes) so probably nearer £4k

simon suggested that i have a dyno run as he thought the car wasnt behaving as well as it should do so on the 16/02/2018 i went to scoobyclinic for a dyno run which showed it was running slightly rich so the map was tweaked and it made 349bhp and 370ftlbs.

next up i tackled the bodywork, i had the front and rear bumpers resprayed along with the fmic sprayed silver however it was short lived as a few weeks later i was washing the car and got a little too close with a jet wash and blew some of the paint off whilst trying to remove some stubborn grime so it went back into the body shop for another front corner respray and a full machine polish to take out the swirl marks on the car.

next for the car was a visit to paul finch of finch motorsport who supplied and fitted a 3 port obd oil catch can, this was back in april and it still hasnt collected anything so happy days so far.

I also had a new bosch battery fitted with a 3 year warranty from euro car parts around this time.

next up was mot time which it passed,i also had the air-con regassed and all 4 tyres filled with nitrogen. i also fitted a new cabin filter as the one in it was black and rather musty.

a few weeks ago the car was holding back boost so i took it to thwaites for mark to work his magic,he went through everything and couldnt find the problem, there was 0 det,all the sensors were fine,no leaks etc. the day before it happened i filled up with v-power and the car was nearly empty at the time so we are putting it down to a bad batch of fuel,i re-filled from a different filling station and its been fine ever since.

currently the car is at thwaites as they have removed all of the brembos and sent them to ian @ godspeed for a full rebuild and powdercoat in bright porsche red with white brembo logos.

Engine-

-forged 2.5 with closed deck block from scooby-clinic
-mahle 2618 pistons
-std rods with arp rod bolts
-11mm arp headstuds
-new crank
-new race bearings throughout
-heads skimmed
-uprated valve springs and retainers
-cosworth head gaskets
-egr blanking kit
-complete gasket and seal kit
-hybrid vf43 turbo
-japspeed front mount intercooler
-scoobyclinic induction kit
-denso 750cc injectors
-walbro fuel pump
-full decat including 3 inch decat downpipe into 2.5 deresonated center section into a vortex backbox
-full set of silicone hoses
-forge dump valve
-perrin alternator belt cover
-sti style strut brace

Suspension-

-full set of tein flex z coilovers
-front and rear whiteline anti roll bars
-rear caster bush kit
-front drop links
-bump steer kit
-camber bolts
-fast road geo set up by simon @ chevron

Brakes-

-brembos all round, all rebuilt by ian at godspeed and powder coated in bright porsche red with white brembo logos (still @ godspeed having this done)
-full set of g-hook discs
-pf z rated pads
-full set of stainless brake lines

Exterior-

-perrin wing stiffies
-ht autos front splitter
-bosch flat blade aero wipers
-de-tangoed headlights with painted black inserts

Wheels-

-xxr527 in custom dark grey all unmarked apart from 1 small mark on the drivers front which is hardly noticeable.

Interior-

-alpine double din headunit
-full set of defi's in dash pod (oil pressure/oil temp/boost) with glovebox mounted controller.
-sub and amp combo in the boot, think its alpine or pioneer.

i wash the car every week using the 2 bucket method with auto finesse snowfoam and always dry it with microfibre towels and a spray wax detail all over. the car is stunning to look at and always gets attention wherever it goes.it sounds fantastic and the combo of the 2.5/vf43 @350bhp its a fantastic fast road car. there is 0 lag and it pulls hard all the way.

as the engine is not even 2 years old yet and only covered just over 10k the cambelt wont need doing for 30k or in august 2020 whichever comes first

bad points-

-few small marks around car but hardly any really just me being picky.
-in my opinion the blue mudflaps let it down so ideally a new set would be needed.
-the cars idle when slowing down can sometimes take 3-4 seconds to settle, ive had this looked at and its from what ive been told the drive-by-wire throttle/fmic/open induction kit isnt an ideal set-up as the drive-by-wire can be a tad awkward. its not bad it just rises and drops between 1200rpm-700rpm for a few seconds when coming to a standstill.
-i had to disconnect the headlight auto level ecu behind the glovebox as due to my coilovers the headlights were blinding folk all the time. they are now at the correct height all the time.
-may or may not be a problem but due to having std rods the engine isnt really built for mega bhp, a few tuners have told me that 420-430 on std rods with arp bolts is about the limit.

the car starts fine hot or cold and i have never had to top up the oil or water, it took me all around the east coast last year and was faultless.

i have the full logbook and all paperwork to prove the work carried out including owners manuals and wallet. im located in hinckley leicestershire about 1/4 mile from roger clarks.

i do not need a part ex so please dont ask.

im not going to be very flexible on price as i believe the amount gone into the car justifies it,if the car does not sell then i will finance my 4x4 through my bank and keep the impreza under lock and key for a while.

thanks

matt

forgot to mention that the car has had the passenger side airbag re-call done, it was done at the subaru dealership in leicester earlier this year.

isn't the engine code stamped on the block somewhere? Ej20 for 2.0 and ej25 for 2.5.

Get some pics up and ask the question in the general section. Pictures of interior may help aswell.
