Hawkeye Sti Type UK factory headlights specs?

So, my headlights are starting to look foggy and rough as many hawk owners will know about. Decided I'd probably just go ahead and buy some aftermarket headlights to spruce her up a bit.

But I was wondering what lights my car actually has, since i don't know that much about the difference between halogen and xenon hid lights.

Do all the type UK Sti s come with xenon Hids out of the factory?

And also does anyone know if those c bar drl headlights from America are legal over here? I couldn't see why not but you know what like our country is :freak3:

cheers! :luxhello:

the standard lights are great, get the lenses polished and they will be back to new. A darn sight cheaper than some cheap aftermarket ebay specials

Was these i was looking at getting, meant to be good quality but haven't seen any in the UK. And yeah I could always get them polished up but how's the usual outcome of that? Pretty good?

They would be fine if you drove on the RH side of the road...................

Now that's something I didn't think of :facepalm2:

Different story if they're easy to restore though. Would that be a DIY job or would most garages know what they're doing with that? I'm booking her into a body shop soon to get rid of some chips etc, so suppose it'd be worth asking them if they'd manage.

Body shop can/should do it for you.

But you could buy the Meguiars kit and DIY it cheaper.

If it's going into the bodyshop then they should be able to restore them and then lacquer them with a UV resistant coating that should keep them going almost indefinitely without the need to further restore them again down the line. That said, for the half hour the DIY kits take to do per lens it's hardly a problem to do it once a year.

Put simply, if you have A UK spec Hawkeye STI you should have factory fit HID lights. You will have a blanked out headlight level switch, a set of light washers in the front bumper and a pair of level sensors on the driver side lower suspension arms and a copmputer module to auto level in the left hand lower dash outboard of the glovebox.

Your only really sensible option is to get the lenses polished.
