Rotated set up
So who is running a rotated turbo Set up, what engine? What spec are you running?
Is it laggy? Is it just more beneficial to run a stock position turbo? |

I have run both setups both are good but i personally like the way the rotated turbo setup spools up and comes on full boost on my 2.35 build...If you have the extra money spare the rotated set up is nice but only if you are looking to achieve big power levels otherwise its just a waste of money,as good power can be achieved with a standard position turbo.SJ.

I'm having my 2.1 built again so looking at what avenue to take I want to make 500bhp so standard position turbo will make that and is that to low on power for rotated and I'll get loads of lag?

Why are you having it built again?.SJ.

Melted piston 1 and 3 due to lack of fueling, so now gonna get a swirl pot fitted and also gonna so syvecs rather than Alcatek, it will be running 2.1, 860cc injectors, front mount, decat etc. So I dunno what turbo to get........ I'm guessing either the gt30 of gt35
any help is appreciated |
A GT30R from ScoobyClinic would be a nice turbo on a 2.1 build with 860cc injectors, and would be adequate for 500hp.SJ.
|
Gava, have you fitted or fitting a parallel fuel setup? I fitted one to my Bug when I replaced the turbo due to the OE setup causing cylinder 3 to have possible fuel issues.

Honestly, I'd just look at an MD321V if that's your goal of 500. You'll also make more on a meth mix on top of that. I was toying with the idea of rotating my LM Twinscroll turbo but I can't see any huge benefits to it in comparison to standard positon. You can do away with the crap inlet tract stepping up and down by running the larger compressor housing on the V (76mm) and using 76mm intake hose. With that in mind it's a smoother inlet tract and still a GT30 sized turbo so no real need to go rotated other than willy waving.

i was looking at the mdx321V as i used to have the T version on it before and power was good still made 430bhp just didnt know what is the best route to take
|
I think in your situation it's going to come down to cost. I don't see any huge benefits which would sway you to go rotated when a standard fit turbo will achieve your goals.

I haven't know but if you reckon that would help I'm all up for it as it was an expensive lesson learnt the first time so now need to get it right

A standard position turbo does not compare to a rotated setup, the power delivery and top end pull is much more aggressive. Is it worth the extra cost probably not but if you want the best from your setup then rotated is the way!

I've got a sc gt30 and rotated kit to fit soon so I'll let you know what it's like .
|
im rotated on my blob running a 2.1 and scoobyclinic gt30 .63. It has more lag than my previous sc46. Prob 1000-1500rpm until on full boost but it comes on harder. the sc46 was a great combo with a 2.1 as it was on full boost by 3500rpm. The gt30 is great but as a weekend car you have to kick its head in to feel the benefit if you get me.
