Imported a Legacy STi S402 into the UK

Hi all,

I joined yesterday after stumbling across this forum looking for something else, it seems like a pretty active and lively place to be. We bought an S402 at auction late last year, it has been at Torque GT since Christmasmwaiting for its tenth birthday so we can get it registered. That day is nearly here, the car had a good scrub up and its MOT today and we should be able to collect it in early July. Cannot wait! Here's a few nice quality pics I receoved this afternoon.

Cheers Simon

What a fantastic car! I'd seen a gen 3 S40(?) But I've never seen a gen 4 equivalent. What engine spec does it have?

mondie 14 June 2018 08:37 PM

I think that may be an S401 you're thinking of Stuart?

Engine spec is a 2.5 twinscroll rated at 210kw/392Nm. I plan to have it conservativly mapped for local fuel but otherwise will keep the car standard.

The S402 was predominatly a handling package

Cheers

V nice. is this the only s402 in the country?

mondie 14 June 2018 10:34 PM

It very well may be, since they cannot be registered until ten years after first registration in Japan. This is because the cars went down the STi production line and had the Subaru codes removed and so they are not recognised under the IVA scheme. Given that any other S402's would have come into the country only recently.

Trust you to notice that!
Good point though...

I think its the one of the best looking gen 4 models I've seen, up there with the WR Ltd. I really like the grill and subtle boot spoiler. Did you get torque gt to find one for you or did they have it on order already?

Morning All,

I had Jarlath at Imeka cars find one for me. This car came up early on but it took about 5 weeks of bidding and seeing it passed in before we finally got it. Grade 4.5 wilth 42k miles so just run in really. When Jarlath mailed all the log books I had him include the gear knob. I learnt from my experience when importing an Evo that gear knobs along with speakers and anything easily stolen will be! The knob is marked S402 so would be impossible to replace.

Cheers

good work Mondie, lovely motor! Where are you based?

mondie 15 June 2018 02:21 PM

North Wales in Lalndudno, hence the car choice since we are on the fringes of Snowdonia :norty:

Very nice.. I looked at an estate version when I was near to getting rid of my Legacy diesel. Decided against in the end because of the 10 year from first registration issue and also auction prices were very strong.

mondie 15 June 2018 05:45 PM

The auction prices are very strong, it will be interesting to see if there is a few more headed to the UK now. Its a big outlay for a Legacy, but what else is there that comebines all of its attributes into such a great package. Two previous cars were M5's that were brutal, but the handling and driver feel is what I am most looking forward to.
