Seized bleed nipples in Brembo's
is there any chance of the stripping the threads out of the calipers (like the actual caliper bolts have a habit of doing) or will it just shear/require nut welded on to remove the bleed nipple
|
Very easy to damage the threads in there / try some Rost of ice to freeze crack the seizure then keep winding in / out even if it takes 20-30 turns to remove . Slow & steady

We get quite a lot of these calipers in to repair bleed nipple damage , the threads can pull out very easily.
If it does , we can repair them with a helicoil Cheers Ian 01656 723060 |
sounds like a ballache :(

Ps , you certainly want the calipers off the car & in a vice to stand any chance of saving them .

If your goin to give your calipers a good refurb yourself then I would do it this way Split the caliper half’s , remove pistons & seals , Spray penetration fluid into the chambers / although with the nipple in the closed position the passage way is sealed , it still may help though as the tip ( point of the nipple may be corroded also as it creeps. Then as I say work on each individual half in a vice & try to crack the seizure off with the likes of Rost off. Regards mic |
managed to pickup two new old stock brembo's (removed from an STI after PDI) so at least i can fit them then set about sorting the seized ones & reselling to cover money back and not have car off road for too long as its a daily
noticed titanium bleed nipples for sale - much point in replacing existing, or just copper grease the existing nipples? |
