non turbo clutch setup to turbo - bleeding issues
i think my donor car was non turbo ... and i have now fitted turbo engine .
only parts from non turbo are clutch pedal and clutch master engine / clutch / clutch slave is all from turbo car now i am having issues bleeding / getting clutch basically i got all air out ( i think) but the pedal does not do anything at slave until half way down what have i missed ? is there anything in between clutch arm and rod that goes into slave ? |
not mine , but i notice there is a spring on clutch arm , i dont have that .. so might not help .. will source |
You've answered your own question :)
It's essential that the spring is in place for bleeding the system in order to allow free play between the push rod and fork arm. without any free play the push rod never fully returns so the master cylinder cannot recouperate |
Assuming your clutch is the same as a classic Impreza, I don't have the spring on my car and it works fine. To bleed, remove the slave cylinder, turn upside down so the nipple is to the top. Use a G clamp to hold the piston in and bleed like that. might not be the best way to do it but worked fine for me

Just watching your latest vid on youtube mate. looks to me like the clutch release bearing isn't housed?
|
i remember making sure release bearing went in all ok , but could be wrong
anyway i took of slave , and bleed upside down , fitted spring , and i now have a pedal ! wont know properly until i start engine , cheers everyone , lets hope engine dont have to come out |
Or another way what we do at work is back bleed it using an oil can pumping the lever on the can forces the air to the top at the reservoir when doing clutches.
