Dump valve with FMIC
Evening all, I know its a contentious issue and some people don’t like them but I've always loved the sound of a DV between gear changes. Now I know from reading many posts that the standard recirc valve is best in terms of performace but won’t give me the thrill factor I love. Along with lots of maintenenace and other mods I will be fitting a FMIC to my classic Turbo 2000 and want a dump valve that will give me the performamce and thrill I crave. Can anyone tell me which DV is the best of both worlds? |
Standard recirc. You'll still hear it, since you need an induction kit with an FMIC.

I reckon you'd benefit from a GFB recirc/VTA hybrid. Where it allows you to have it anywhere between 0-100% recirc or VTA. That way you can alter it dependent on mood.
Thing is you'd ideally want it to be mapped in in the 100% recirc position. So if you then decide to go, say, 100% VTA, then you may get momentary overfuelling when it dumps under boost. Which may/may not be an issue - that's up for debate (loads of threads about it). Unless you have an ECU that allows dual maps, so you can have two maps: one for 100% recirc; one for 100% VTA... |
