Kames Sprint track is 70 miles from the Border so closer to most of you than it is to some of us.

Ok boys and girls, who is up for some fun next month. (27-28/7/02)
We are going to stage a double header on the sprint circuit.
We will be running the track in one direction on the Saturday and the reverse direction on the Sunday.
Timed as ussual by Stan. The plan this time is to divide drivers into groups so, as one group plays, the others can relax. Saves waiting in queues.

Assuming we have reasonable numbers (participants and Spectators) the Cafe will also be open.
A barbeque is planned for the evening on Saturday night and also running an Autotest and some other activities.
This will give those of you who don't fancy going out on the track an excuse to have some fun round a timed course set out in cones (expect to be thrashed by the Elises).

There is also a pub in the caravan park 200 yrds away or we will have a party on site on a BYOB basis.

Trying to think of other fun things to do so any suggestions will be welcome.

I personnaly intend camping on site. If you don't fancy that, there is a single static caravan at the site that can sleep 6-8 depending on how intimate you are .
The Coach house pub at the bottom of the road has two rooms and there are other B&Bs in the area. I'll be getting what details I can on the accomodation.

I'm afraid because catering etc has to be sorted then the arrangement will need to be a bit more formal than the usual 'turn up and run'.
Cost will be £40 for the two days and I will probably be asking for a deposit of £10 for any participants.

This should be huge fun.....especially the drinking games, so add you names to the list !!

Excuse moi, but I thought gods country was Lancashire:D

GaryC 16 June 2002 09:07 AM

Don't be stupid...everyone knows god's own country is Yorkshire ;)

Scotland are Yorkshire kinsmen - like yorkshiremen with the generosity kicked out of them :D

But Lancashire.... I've had to live here for the past 6 years :( still have to go to Yorkshire once a month to get passport stamped though.

Only one good thing comes out of Lancashire - the M62 :D

ANYWAY...back on topic. Where is the circuit? 70 miles north or south of the border??

John Stevenson 16 June 2002 01:44 PM

Circuit is in a village called Muirkirk, 11 miles from J12 on M74 in the land where the Haggis roam free !!

P.S. I'm not getting involved in the internal politics of you soft southerners ;)

JohnS 17 June 2002 01:46 PM

It's apparently about 3 hours drive from the Liverpool area, so it's actually quicker for you guys to get there, than it is for me to travel from Aberdeen!

This event should be well worth attending, due to the overnight activities ;)

John/John,

I'll be coming up again, after seeing how much fun it was in May. :D I know Graham's interested in coming up too, but don't know what his plans are yet.

Not sure at the moment when I'll be arriving. What's the B&B situation locally, as I don't do tents ;)

JohnS 17 June 2002 03:01 PM

Stu,

the pub at the bottom of the road has a couple of rooms apparently, and there are a few other places in the village which do B&B.

Once we get the list together, we'll publish it with phone numbers etc.

There are also lots of places in Ayr, which is only 20 minutes drive away, where you can get hotels and more luxurious accommodation :D

Little Miss WRX 17 June 2002 03:30 PM

JohnS what kind of overnight activities are we talking about? ;)

I am interested in participating in this :D

Is Knockhill on the 20th July or am I getting dates wrong?

ChrisB 17 June 2002 04:55 PM

Please stop tempting me!

moz.g 17 June 2002 09:27 PM

John

Just seen your thread in the Scotland section, any chance of getting a room in the pub (or anywhere for that matter) cos I'll be coming straight from work on Saturday night and I can't be arsed with tents :D

Graham

moz.g 17 June 2002 11:39 PM

KH is on the 20th, so this is the following weekend.

John

Little Miss WRX 18 June 2002 08:08 PM

JohnS are you sure about that? ;)

JohnS 18 June 2002 09:24 PM

Yes Michelle, it's definitely the following weekend ;)

John Stevenson 27 June 2002 05:46 PM

I've just e-mailed everyone that I understand is attending Kames, (using the track or not). If you didn't receive an e-mail I don't think you are attending, can you let me know of you intentions (spectating or using track), track places are almost gone.

---cheers---

Please note the dates in 'True Grip' are in fact wrong. This thread has the correct dates !!
