Modern car electrical connectors?

Can they actually be sourced from anywhere, other than sacrificing another loom?

Just wondering, as I've just cut one off the boot opener switch on the lad's Clio to solder it on to the one feeding the fuel injection, which was hanging on by a thread...plus it SEEMS to have solved the problem he had.

I've ordered a new boot switch and solaenoid and it comes with the connector also cut short, so that will get soldered on to where I cut this one off.

But in the event of not having a new one, can they be sourced?

somebody must make them, the hard part is finding the supplier

Yes. The hard part is finding EXACTLY the right one. I have a load of tubs full of used connectors that I chopped off scrap cars/components for this very reason as its a hell of a lot quicker/easier than going cross-eyes at the thousands of listings in parts catalogues.

Renault do repair connectors, lost count of heater resistor and OS sensor connector repair kits I had to use over the years :lol1: Renault kindly pre-assemble the connectors and give you about 15cm of wire on each so all you have to do is solder or crimp. Nice, you may think, no that would be too easy....all the wires are same colour! Usually purple!

Certain types of connector maybe shared with other brands, common OEM maufacturer are Tyco and AMP (TE) spring to mind but there are many others, the maker's logo or name is usually stamped somewhere. Once you have the brand and number of pins, you are a tenth of the way there to finding the right one, and even then you may need to take a Stanley blade to it to shave off the odd alignment lug.

I also have a dentist's toolkit for popping pins out of the connector housing. Some are fiddly.

Anyhoo, have fun:

Hardly the same as what is being discussed.

You can sometimes find them but the problem is finding a supplier who deals in small quantities.............

Ummmm yeah it is. Their SuperSeal range of connectors are reasonable copies of what you’d buy from Molex/TE/Amphenol without the minimum order sizes and the premium for using their automotive sub brands.

Having used these they are fine for connecting "wire to wire".
The OP was asking more about "wire to device" connectors. eg boot opener switch, ie the plug at the end of the piece of loom.

A current Subaru problem

If you need parts a sideways look at caravan repair or dealers near you may help....

P.S. I run a CNC machine that prepares wire/terminals for vehicle/caravan harnesses....

P.P.S. Cutting what you need off a scrap car is always a good option....

The last is what we've had to do, since the part came WITHOUT the plug that was on the photo:rolleyes:

So if I have this right you are after the other end for this:

https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.sco...e3f142687.jpeg

If so, I'm fairly confident that is the same as that used for the coolant temp sensor on Peugeot engines (done enough of them as the sensor leaks coolant into the wiring loom..all the way to the engine ECU, a water proof connector means coolant cannot leak OUT so it gets pushed into the loom instead  ).....

In which case it should look like this:

https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.sco...bad13b459.jpeg

If so, I have a used one you can have (free). Pop a PM if you want it.

The lugs (on the bottom right) will probably be in the wrong place, so will need shave them off with a Stanley blade.

If you want new ones. It's a Delphi Sicma 2-way connector, that'll help narrow it down.
