Advice on remapping please

Hi All
I have a 52 plate WRX wagon, 94K on the clock. I'm considering a Remap to increase power by about 50 brake. I'm quite close to ecomaxtuning (.co.uk) in Peterborough, so I'm looking at their Stage 1.5 remap. Any thoughts on this company would be useful or possible other alternatives?
Many thanks
tony

Use a recognised Subaru specialist who can do a custom map. Don't use a generic one map fits all tuning company. Edit; Ecomaxtuning don't appear to be Subaru specialists, you are planning to tune a 16 year old car, personally I would search out someone who does Imprezas everyday

Thanks for your reply, certainly useful. It is true that Ecomax don't have a 4wd road, and using a specialist seems a better idea. As for getting a newer car - unlikely! :-)

However, I'm not sorta back where I started, where might I go within a reasonable distance of the Peterborough (actually Spalding) area?

There's Zen Performance at Earith, they used to be at Wellingborough and are Subaru specialists with long history. Think a chap called Ren runs it now but they can do anything you want. They're on FB, a mobile from there is 07917 821520.

Out of interest, which mapper/s does the 'new' Zen Performance use these days (if at all)?

I believe it's all in house. I used them when Paul Blamire was there but I understood a chap called Richard does the mapping, he may be known as Ren. They've moved premises a couple of times so not sure if they still have the RR. Heard good reports of them.

FB Tuning's 'Richard'?

He used to be an employee of theirs, when based at Baird Ct, right?

As I said, think the mapping is in house, must be 2010 or so when last had contact with them.
Richard O'Donovan ( known as Ren) took over the reigns from Paul and I understand he does the mapping.

Hi Guys, and thank you for the helpful responses. I'm trying to get hold of Zen today - and if he says my engine is too old (and risky to map) I'll have to shelve the project! We'll see...

Yep there is Ren at Zen or you could call Area 52 Autosport as they are only 1.5 hours from you and have their own dyno. Both are well known to me and will do a spot on job.

What does that mean. I have heard these guys have been caught on camera driving a customers cars over pot holes to gain extra work, is this what you are referring to.

For just a map you cannot go wrong with Duncan at Racedynamix, he did my Hawkeye WRX at Roger Clark Motorsport in Hinckley. Complete standard WRX on 97 supermarket petrol I got 40 extra Bhp but and increase of 85 Ft lbs at 3000 rpm, Totally different car now.

But I have noticed on their web site that they wont have in car cameras now in cars that they work on due to privacy or something , take what you will from that .
the clip is on youtube.

I doubt any mapper when road testing/ mapping a car would want it recorded for obvious reasons.

I don't think many of us would like a camera recording us doing any job.
If you can't trust them then take it elsewhere or do the work yourself.
