Concentrated squash WITHOUT sweeteners
After the government and lobby groups meddling it is fast becoming nigh on impossible to buy squash without sweeteners.
Now I'm not going in the reasoning of why other than I hate the taste of artificial sweeteners. I know I'm not alone as I just went to order some Ribena (which was one of the last main brands to have no sweetener) only to find it now has artificial sweeteners and a massive backlash of recent one star reviews all complaining about it. I did have a juicer but was too lazy..juicing took too long, it made a racket, it was an arse to clean, and the blades cost a small fortune. So let's see a list of brands that have no artificial sweetener: So far we have :
And that's it! Any more? |
i thought morisson and sainsbury have the high juice
well the last one had was one these , about month ago orange |
Just checked:
Sainsbury's is ok :thumb: Morrisons contains Sucralose :nono: This has crept in over the past few years, but over the past month loads of stuff has changed in preparation for when the sugar tax kicks in (tomorrow, by pure coincidence). So what you once thought was free of artificial sweeteners may now contain them. So check the labels carefully! I'll update the list as and when. Never know, it may come in handy. |

Use a water bottle with the fruit holder in it.

Stock up on some of this stuff on your next trip to the continent, or save yourself the trip and bulk-buy on Amazon if you can't wait that long :thumb:
(obviously you will want to avoid the 0% varieties, which use sucratose and stevia instead of good old-fashioned sugar)

Just by the Waitrose apple and mango, that stuff is lush.

I used to drink the "full of sugar" Robinsons Orange squash, avoiding the no added sugar version because although I could drink diet fizzy drinks by the gallon without any ill effect (OK, maybe the odd fart) the no added sugar squashes tended to trigger my asthma.
When no added sugar became the only thing you can get, I spoke to Robinsons to try to understand the contents a little more. The advice had was that the larger bottles of concentrated squash had different sweeteners in to the smaller / non-concentrated bottles and hence it might be worth trying them. I did and had no issues - so bizarre as it sounds, it seemed that (at least at that point) different sized bottles meant different formulations. |

I can confirm that this stuff makes a great substitute for mango to make a mango-colada :D Probably should have mentioned I sometimes use juices for mixers :o |
