60mm Gauge Set & TurboSmart BOV

I have recently purchased a Hawkeye Impreza WRX, late 2006

I would like to know what readings should I be looking out for on the gauges, at the moment after 20 minutes driving the oil temperature settles down to 83, oil pressure at 1.6, and boost 0.7 when idle. are these figures ok,

also the BOV has a hard and soft setting, can somebody explain what the settings should ideally be set to.

Oil temp is in deg F and is fine.
Oil pressure also looks OK and my boost at idle is -0.7.

BOV? Get a recirculating one.

sorry, yes I meant -0.7 at idle

my oil pressure now settles down to 1.4 bar , is this normal or is there cause for concern. I am currently running on 10w/60 Millers CFS, but I am changing this to 5w/40 Titans Super Syn, fully synthetic.

Sounds a bit low, it's only 20psi.
Is the engine forged? How many miles?
What make of gauges?

Recirculating dump valve allows the metered air to be fed back into the induction system, instead of vented, avoiding over-fuelling, which can cause problems.

yes engine has forged pistons, 80k miles from new, from checking previous owners invoice, it says Defi ATI 60mm Gauge pod £120 + 20% VAT & 60mm gauge set oil temp/oil pressure/boost £98.50 + 20% VAT
Just had oil filter change 5w/40 Titan Synergy Fully Synthetic & genuine blue oil filter, and oil pressure is now reading 1.6 bar

secondly, i got a small leak on radiator, water drips to bottom, only realised when guard was removed, there was a damp patch on right side of guard surface. which "radiator stop leak fluid" is good and how should this be applied ? there are alot of different types on ebay

How should it be applied? Not at all, lol.

Think about it. If it seals holes from inside, how is it NOT causing probs with your water passages in, say, the heads?

Get a new rad, mine was around £65, they are a bit more now. Be ready for the old bolts to be rusted solid, stock up on M6 x 16 stainless.

Then drain coolant and replace rad. Top hose is a good bet to replace at same time, mine went straight AFTER, GRRRR.

Refill using my method: https://www.scoobynet.com/general-te...-question.html third post down.

back to question on BOV, (Turbo smart) which already came fitted to the car when i bought it, What is the harder and softer for? Just for the sound or what?

should it be more towards the softer setting or more towards the harder setting ?
