easiest way to put music on ipod

I'm a bit of a cave troll when it comes to tech so bear with me.

I have just bought a new laptop and a new ipod touch and I'm wanting a load of music on it, I have all the music I need on cd's but I don't really fancy going down the route of digging them all out and burning them onto my computer.

a quick google tells me to copy/paste link from youtube into an mp3 converter website and save to my laptop then transfer from laptop to ipod but a lot of the mp3 converter sites I have read reviews on seem to give out viruses aswell.

I really don't wanna pay for iTunes either @ 99p per song it will become very expensive very fast.

thanks in advance

You can only get music onto an apple device through iTunes.

You can rip from cd into iTunes.
Or
Open existing mps's on hard drive in iTunes then sync to Apple device.

Burning cd is probably not as bad an idea as you think - it's a reasons to go through all of your cds and find all the ones that you've forgotten about. Also, burning from cds is a great way to get very good quality tunes - some of the versions on youtube are not cd quality.

That said, if you do want to lift from youtube it's not as risky as google results might suggest. I (may) have lifted many, many tunes from youtube without any problems. Some conversion sites are better than others, and some won't do very big files so if you want to convert a whole album or mix set you just need to make sure you use a site that will let you do it.

Last thing is, my biggest annoyance with storing tunes on any device is that you will get different volumes on the tunes (tunes from cds are louder than those from youtube for example), so you'll forever be altering the device volume to get a steady volume. You can get around this by using something like mp3gain. It goes through all your music and adjusts the volume so they are all the same.

Do you have a Amazon prime account?

It includes music which can be downloaded via the Amazon music app at no extra charge.

Yes I do have prime. Can it be downloaded on the iPod?

Fishbowlhead 18 March 2018 01:19 AM

Only stream from the amazon app unfortunately. It's iTunes or iTunes Store on the phone for any actual file on device.

Swop it for 5c / stream off your present phone .

And keep your CD player, music as it was intended to be.

Take you months to convert all your stuff . And then wonder why you bothered

I’m exact same as you mate when it comes to tech nothing but ****ary:(

Then from downloaded files area on the pc drag the downloaded tunes over to the apple thingie
Then sync the iPod and phone with the apple thingie on the pc all done

I’m doing some today so will put some screenshots for you it’ll be much easier to explain :thumb:

Are you sure? Because I can

Well iPad and iPhone at least, latest iPod should do it as it's the same iOS.

Tap the 3 dots on the right of the track/album for a drop down menu and there will be a download option as shown above.

Not all of the latest stuff is downloadable (copyright blah  ) but the majority of stuff is. And you can only play it via the Amazon app.

Found it by chance myself, it's probably the most annoying thing about apps when they update the layout and move various options to different places so you either can't find them or don't know they exist! And none have proper instructions, feature lists or documentation :brickwall:

the shreksta 18 March 2018 12:22 PM

I'm trying to set up my iTunes account and payment info and its asking me for an area code, I have no land line so any ideas what I can do? it will not let me past until I complete this

Fishbowlhead 18 March 2018 12:30 PM

don't know what the hell is going on but whenever I click download on the website zany I have a load of things pop up on my screen from Microsoft edge giving me a warning that my computer is infected with pornographic spyware, it is asking me to call a number to talk through removing it. is it a scam? when it pops up I cannot do anything except re-start my computer

Fishbowlhead 19 March 2018 06:34 PM

Yes. It's a scam. Under no circumstances click on that link.

Shreksta I have to be honest, if you already have the cds just rip them and be done with it. It's more time consuming yes, but legal and once their on your hard drive it's done and dusted.

dpb 19 March 2018 07:08 PM

In the meantime just use amazon music as Ali said
