Closed deck block conversion
Just wondering a few things about cdb, ive got a 2.5 wrx engine and thinking down the line about upgrades.
1- Are closed deck block inserts available off the shelf or are they made by the companies that do the machine work? 2- if Available to buy does the block require machining to suit? Im guessing it does? 3- Is any work to the bore required after fitting the inserts? Thanks for any info folks |
A 2.5 will need to be machined to cdb it, you can buy a cdb ej20 though and have that as a 2.0/2.1 or you can get a ej22 cdb and have that as a 2.35

The machine shop that carries out the cdb application will have them. It is not something you can buy off the shelf as you probably wouldn't have the means to fit it your self. As far as I know. The block is heated and the inserts are chilled after precise measuring and then fitted so when both components come to the same temperature they are super tight
