kungfu 15 June 2002 10:08 AM

just tried my type-r the other day, mate had the stopwatch in the car....hit 60 on a wet road in 4.3secs....put the diff control up but she still spun, what do you guys get??

TypeRMan 15 June 2002 10:31 AM

Kungfu

What version u got? Is it standard?

Not bad going in the wet with diff up.

Not timed my Version 5. All i know is 'on my signal unleash hell'!

I have too much torque to put down on the tarmac....at guess must be near 4 secs if not sub 4 secs in the dry.

Had chip re-mapped so a helluva lot more responsive.

sammyh 15 June 2002 10:56 AM

4.9 in my old UK MY00, but the flux capacitor failed when I hit 88mph :D

bug-eyed wonder 15 June 2002 11:29 AM

Blimey! I'd be happy to get under 10 in a 01 WRX! ;)

kungfu 15 June 2002 12:00 PM

i've got a jasma stainless system & a turbo xs dumpvalve....it's a version 4 sti,
who else.....

ustolemyname??stevieturbo 15 June 2002 02:09 PM

The jasma label is something to do with noise test regs in japan. Not a mufacturer.

catflap 15 June 2002 02:31 PM

Still looking for the right megabusa, should do it in 3.5

Coolmeister 15 June 2002 04:27 PM

dream on guys.:) do you really have that much faith in a stopwatch and your speedos?
unless a car was heavily modded, with uprated internals etc, it would not manage a sub 4 sec. if you really want to get sub 4s, try driving off a cliff, that should do it:) :)

Flat 4x4 15 June 2002 04:31 PM

Standard trim 0-60 and 30-70 of 5.5 seconds (+/- 0.3) must be enough for everyone, right !?

Interesting that no-one has tested the new STi UK faster to 60 than the std 99MY turbo

chrisp 15 June 2002 07:15 PM

coolmeister I think you need to read catflap's reply again. The clue to the vehicle is in the reply ;).

Sub 5 seconds are pretty much standard on classic standard STIs and early to mid 5 on standard UKs. P1 was advertise as 4.66. Didnt Stef do a 4.5 in a tweaked MY98 UK in cossie V scooby revs article using proper timing gear.

Also better to do it in damp conditions as the wheels psin and teh turbo spools up quick and the damp air is better ;). Having said that a new transmission is expensive so not advisable unless you have a goiod bank balance :D.

7.3 with Dawes and downpipe - gutted.

LG John 16 June 2002 12:49 PM

snow what you playing at!! My VTS can do that with a prefect launch - are you sure your floormats aren't fouling the accelerator ;)

salsa-king 16 June 2002 03:25 PM

7.1 in the wet! :( at RS national say last year.

tooo scared to slip the clutch is my problem!!!!!

AP organic fitted now though!!

Phil

scottdg 16 June 2002 06:16 PM

4.86 @ Leconfield last year.

Mildly tuned MY00

flat4 16 June 2002 07:46 PM

4.5sec in my '92 legacy (with shafted 1st & 2nd syncros, and less go faster bit than present :D) it's all down to perfect clutch control

kev :)

barge 16 June 2002 08:08 PM

in the MK1 escort 2.5 - 3 seconds, in the scooby about 5 -6 I guess never tried it.

The escort is not standard before you ask, nor is the BBC V8 thats fitted up front

Joseph 16 June 2002 10:23 PM

Mine was timed at santa pod at 4.5 to 60 and 11.5 to 100 when it was running 320 bhp. Now on around 340 it should be knocking on the door of the high 3's and sub in the 10's to the ton.

johnfelstead 16 June 2002 11:05 PM

4.00s in the damp at the RS owners club day last year. 2nd fastest of allcomers, fastest was 3.98s by an RS200 GroupB AWD 500BHP car. From that a knew what 60MPH really was and did 3.2 seconds on a grippy dry surface. This was in my 330BHP Westie.

No idea what the STi is, dont intend to find out either. :D

CraigH 17 June 2002 01:05 PM

Joseph,

I doubt that 20hp would knock over 1.5secs off your 0-100 time.

Dennisi 17 June 2002 01:11 PM

I would say that 4.66 is conservative for the P1, I'm certain I am quicker than that with no Mods either.

RoShamBo 17 June 2002 01:16 PM

Rather than 0-60, how about 30-70 as thats much more an indication of real world performance.
I was surprised the other day to do 3 runs of 30-70 (in second) in 3.9 secs !! thought that was rather good for an STi4 with full scoobysport exhaust.
I would imagine the time lost (compared to the standard time of 4.8)is accountable mainly by the downpipe which reduces lag.
I have done quite a bit of stopwatch testing recently & generally I find that I am half a second quicker with the Scoobysport exhaust fitted than I was before.

DRUNKNORGY 17 June 2002 02:12 PM

10.91 seconds for a standard machine straight from the crate,

Oh I forgot to mention, thats the standing quarter :-)

Its a bike but you probably worked that out already

Adam M 17 June 2002 02:30 PM

Driven managed 3.8 secs on the best of five occasions in the same day in anders 22B using datron timing gear. Then they destryed his clutch and bought him a new one.

But then the book figure for the UK 22B is 5.0 secs up to 60, dont think the gearing accounts for that much!

Craig, why arent you bragging?

0-60 in 3.7 secs on proper runs using proper timing gear, and 9.5 was it to 100!

EvoRSX 17 June 2002 02:38 PM

Friends Evo 4 got 0-60 in 3.72 at Trax last year, running 285 bhp at the wheels.

Andy

CraigH 17 June 2002 02:49 PM

OK Adam,

I'll start bragging ;)

That timing gear (that many people doubted after my times) just happens to be the same that EVO and Car run for their performance measuring too........

70mph in an STI 4 in 2nd gear? I'd get your speedo checked ;)

EVORSX - is that Simon you're talking about? If so it was a shame he sold it - was v v quick.

RoShamBo 17 June 2002 02:56 PM

max speed in gears for STi4
1st - 41
2nd - 69
3rd - 99
4th - 133
5th -150 plus

Taken from Autocar test.

Dennisi 17 June 2002 03:09 PM

F6uckin hell, Id be pushing the limiter in my P1 to do 70 in 2nd gear..

Not adviseable I wouldnt imagine though...

Paulo P 17 June 2002 03:13 PM

0-60 in my H reg 16 valve integrale in 5.63 seconds with proper timing gear at RAF alconbury. suffered from alot of clutch slip and had to replace the clutch soon after :( Got AP paddle and chip to 1.5 Bar now with engine being overbored and a group A head gasket :D Should be into the 4's then :D http://upload.turbosport.co.uk/galle...1642810230.jpg
By the way doing it with a stop watch  get out there with REAL timing gear :D

Roshambo,

See I was right - 1mph out - thought the Japanese were efficient? ;)
