Forester SG 2.5 XT - slightly wider tyres?

I've a 2006 2.5 XTE Turbo fitted with 215 55 17's. Will I have any problems with fitting 225 width tyres as I can get a better deal on them ?

Car is on standard rims and suspension and car doesn't tow anything.

Thanks!

No problem, maximum tyre width for the OEM 17x 7jj rims is 225.
Just make sure they are 225/50 R17 to maintain the same rolling radius/ speedo accuracy

Thanks!

By the same token, if I went down to 225 45 17 would that be too much the other way for the rolling radius etc ?

Going to 225/50/17 keeps you within -1.7%

Going to 225/45/17 is a -5.1% change

Thanks for this.

If you are going for a set of five, just be aware that a 225 tyre may not fit in your spare wheel well.

OK - Will go for 4 and take the chance
